Hey you guys :-)

I'm looking for a mini HD or HD based player, but it seems with the features I want, they do not have one...

- it should have at least 5 GB space
- it should support OGG vorbis
- it should have rechargeables that are easily to replace
- it should be regcognized as a mass storage device
- it shouldn't be more expensive than 250 Euros / Dollars...

I looked and looked but I don't seem to find anything that is good. Do you guys have any advice?

Thanks :)
Jan

the M3 is now 239.99 at newegg, with cradle. 20GB of space and fits your other requirement except for the battery, which is only replaceable through the manufacturer, they have said that will charg $50 for this service. ~14 hours, if you want more, they now also carry the M3L which will last ~35 hours for $265.99.

But the M3 looks really big, because I had a iAUDIO4 before, and I want it to be about as small (maybe a little wider because of the HD)...

and I can't order it at newegg, because I'm from Germany ;-) unfortunately...

The iAudio 4 is a flash-based player. The M3 is a HDD-based player.

If you want something with 5 GB or more AND as small as the iAudio 4 then you're going to have to go for a mini-HDD player or be satisfied with less than 5GB of space. Any of the iAudio products in 2GB flash would be great, but if that isn't good enough for you then you'll have to go with something of a much lower quality than jetAudio's products, such as the iPod mini.

How urgently do you want it? Cowon has mentioned an upcoming product called the F1, which some have speculated might have a mini-HD. It's unlikely to arrive until late this year or next, though. 5GB wouldn't be enough for me, so I settled on the M3, but ended up waiting for the X5. It looks like I'll get it soon, now that it is six months since I was planning to get something.

iAudio sounds quite good for you, but if you need a smaller size with at least 5gb and such maybe the iRiver H10? That is, if you need it now (you could try it out and return it if you didn't like it ).

Or you could wait and see if Cowon was maybe release a min-HD player like tsayin was saying.

Creative zen micro and iriver h10

but do those support OGG vorbis? and are they detected as an external storage device?

well, I think a mini HD player would be the right for me... I just dont like the M3 very much, because of the design (main device without screen and remote control...).

so is there anything else you could suggest?

thanks for your help so far!!

The only micro-HDD player that satisfies your demands I can think of is the MPIO HD-200. But I don't know if the battery is easily replaceable.
But I also think that the M3 is a better choice. But it's your money :)

hmm... the MPIO HD-200 doesn't have OGG support either...

seems like there is no player right now that has what I want? or is there?

I still can't understand why you guys like the M3... I mean, it doesn't look too good (I think) and it looks so unhandy... and of course, it is quite expensive...

I don't think there is a player for you yet. Maybe the mobiblu DHH-100 5GB ($229) but no OGG yet(firmware update?). You do have a dilemma. A player that small using OGG gives crap battery life and carrying a spare battery defeats the purpose of it being so small.

How about the MPIO HD300?

Amazon doesn't mention it, but it support OGG as well:

And how about the MUZIO JMH 1000?

Looks like the "sister company" of Cowon...
