View Full Version : Possible 16GB iAudio 7??
I've just been browsing the UK amp3 site and in the spec sheet for the upcoming iAudio 7 it makes some reference to 16GB in the memory size field...
Internal flash memory 4GB, 8GB, (16GB)
http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/Portable_MP3_Players.1/Cowon_Systems.15/IAUDIOI78GB/iAudio_7_8GB_Portable_Media_Player.2491.html?displ ay=features
Now, is that; (a) a typo, (b) a reference to some sort of memory expansion possibilities like a card slot or (c) might there be another higher capacity player on the way soon!?
Can anyone shed any light onto this?

i don't think it's possible right now.

Samsung are already mass producing 16GB memory chips, and according to this press release we could see them in devices as soon as Christmas!

Seoul, Korea - April, 29, 2007 : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced today that it has become the first to begin mass producing 16 gigabit (Gb) NAND flash, the highest capacity memory chip now available....
...With support technology in place, demand for 16Gb NAND flash memory is expected to grow rapidly, pushing this new chip into the mainstream market beginning late this year.

Yes, but that's BITS not BYTES, so you still need 8 of them in a 16GB player. Regardless, I am sure 16GB will be along soon .. all that's stopping them right now is the cost I think.
Ah, thanks for pointing that out I missed that lol.
OK, but there's still the mystery of that product spec sheet over on amp3....
I can't wait though, I've just click on 'add to cart' on the 8GB one anyway! [thumbsup]

Hello All,
I was on the verge of ordering the 8GB version, but now, with the 16gb version coming, I'll have to wait.
16GB will, at last, be big enough to carry all the music I need, and I usually have on my A2. No more compromise. I'll have all the size I need.
If cowon can be the first to reach the 16GB step, that's big, and pretty weird to be honest, the steps in sizes being generally made by memory manufacturers Samsung, Sansa, or the boggest flash mem user in the world (maybe), Apple.
I can't Wait

"Soon" could be quite a while in the future. I think I'll buy the 8GB now. If I think I need the 16GB version later, I'll eBay the 8GB model.
However, I'm not going to commit to the 8GB until someone actually has them available for shipping. No pre-ordering for me

if there's going to be a 16gb flash player, i'd like to see it in a DAP that has a decent screen for video too, or at least a TV-out option.

It would be nice to see an 8GB or 16GB D2, who knows there maybe work going ahead on it :) (then agian maybe not)
If they're only shipping the 8 gigs now, it's pointless to talk about 16 gigs.

8gb D2 would be ideal for me.
