View Full Version : My new D2 wont recognise my 4GB SDHC

Hi.
I received my shiny new d2 yesterday at last (yes!) and must say that i've been really pleased with the look and feel of it. I never saw one before ordering, so was a little unsure but that screen is excellent.

Anyway, gushing aside, I have a problem in that my 4GB SDHC card wont recognise in the unit. The card works fine in my SDHC card reader on my pc, and I have a second identical card that also wont work in it. I reformatted my new card on the pc, FAT32. JetShell does not recognise that a card is even present, and the card does not show up in the D2 as D2 Ext. Another smaller (non-SDHC) card works fine in the D2.

The D2 came with firmware v2.21 installed, and I am wondering whether updating it is likely to cure it?

In any case, what firmware version is the recommended firmware of choice? There seems to be flaky info on this and cowonamerica only seems to list beta versions?

Thanks

Jules
PS: The card is a Dane-elec 4GB SDHC.

I think you have to update the firmware.

oh right. Well, that's good news, thought i might be stuck with an extra sdhc card for my digicam that i don't really need. Or return it of course - but i'd have to pay postage etc and the card was only £15.50 (circa $31US) it'd hardly be worth it.

I'm just giving it a good listen to for the first time right now (Muse, Absolution) - excellent - i bought a set of Shure SE210's too which seem a lot nicer than my 15 year old Sony buds i had from cassette-based days! They served me well though and already I miss the inline volume attenuator, but at least i have some bass!

So - version 2.46 ok?

Right, went ahead and flashed it to v2.46 (no problems doing that). I stuck with non-beta seeing as i'm a newbie to the D2 and don't know how it should / doesn't behave with certain betas.

and hey presto, my 4GB SDHC card is now seen fine! whe-hey!

So add Dane-elec 4GB SDHC to the list of ok cards. (£15.49 from 7dayshop.com)

thanks for your help connexion2000.

Jules
EDIT: this card is a class 4

I had the same problem till updating the firmware to 2.50 beta, the final 2.50 is now available on the cowon site

I updated today too, and thankfully 2.5 still supports SDHC!

Well, I wouldn't put it past them...

at the risk of asking a stupid noob question, where do you see that the final 2.5 FW is out? All I see on the Cowan America site is the 2.5 beta.

It's available on the Cowon global site.

As TedJ implied, the COWON Global site is often more up-to-date with firmware than the COWON Americas site. I'd like to know why, frankly.

Try this link (http://www.cowonglobal.com/zeroboard/zboard.php?id=C08&bmenu=download), please.
