Why does album art only show on some songs, when all my songs have album art and all have .jpeg files.

I cant seem to work out why?

Help would be appreciated :jamming:

Whats this now bud? can you tell me exactly how your album art is laid out?
All I do is have the album art image as cover.jpg, this shows the art for the folder its contained in.. How do you have yours?

Same problem. I am not very technical but in my case it might just be ID Tag problem. All of my old songs don't display album art while my new songs do. So, I tried re-putting new tags (song info & album art) and it worked out fine.

Yup thats how i have mine Dom m8.

Each folder of music contains a Folder.jpeg file which is the album art for the folder it is in.

Each album has its own folder.

All my music is like it, and some work, some dont. It may be a bug or im being an idiot and doing something wrong LOL

You're better off embedding album art into the tags

Dunno man, all mine are cover.jpg and all have worked hassle free since day one, i doubt its a bug or else we'd have heard many many more complaints, I'm guessing its something on your end.

It may be an issue that you have images labeled as "Folder" rather than "cover" or it may even be that you have the extension as ".jpeg" rather than ".jpg"

Do a test with one of the albums that definitely do not work by altering the album arts file name.

Why?

Embedded covert art can't get separated from the tracks .. it does however make each track a little bit longer (<1% usually), and doesn't work with many file formats (like no place to put it in a .wav file, and .ogg isn't too clever at it either - lots of places you =could= put it, but apparently no standards).

For a music player (which is in my pocket) I don't much see the point of cover art, or any other kind of art for that matter.

We had a nice discussion about album art over at dapreview, http://www.dapreview.net/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.334 , if you'd like to read about it GSV

Mediamonkey makes embedding album art to mp3 easy peezy, mp3tag does it very well too

Thanks for that; I read all about it. I loved it on LPs ('Yes' covers in particular) but CDs are just too small to be interesting, and player displays even worse. I do bother to download it with MM, so I can see it on the PC when the tracks are playing, but I don't bother with it on the DAP, as I said.

Ok fair enough dude, each to their own. I happen to like the way the Zune displays album art, but like I said, each to their own.

I wouldn't, if i didn't have album art..... thats what backing everything up to lossless does i guess...

Odd that they don't all show up, you're sure all the files are named correctly, cover.jpg? I've only had one album with embedded album art that wouldn't work, most work fine, and everything with a file in the folder has shown up.

use mediamonkey "auto-tag" function (it will get the cover from amazon and attach in to your mp3 songs) and use "msc" to copy the files to your D2 desired folder.

I have in all folders "cover.jpg" and it works fine. I never tried put album art into ID3v2 tag, but I thin it must work too

Interesting, I still haven't figured out this same problem. Will try again

i seem to be having an issue displaying album art too. i've embedded ALL of my album arts into the id tag using mp3tag--the same way of embedding all my files. yet, some display on the d2, and some don't. a bug perhaps? :/

btw, i'm playing the files in mp3 format

Album art's fine here.

Previous to my purchase (yesterday!) of a 4GB DAB D2, I'd been using SonicStage with my Walkman (an NW-A808, for the curious). Cover art wouldn't show at all - until I transferred my tags from ID3 v2.4 to v2.3 using iTunes. (Cover art is, of course, embedded in the tags.) Once I'd changed the tags, the cover art was fine on both software and player - and there was no noticeable difference in the data stored in them. Japanese characters were fine, so those of you with Unicode tags should have no problems.

I'm assuming it's because of this that I've had very few issues with album art. (Admittedly, my D2 occasionally shows the wrong album art, but I think that's the software I'm using more than anything.)

Try changing the tag version on a small set of files before you commit to changing your entire library, and take a backup of (at least) your test set just in case things go wrong.

Thanks for that idea... maybe changing the tag versions would also relieve me of the genre problems I'm having. :D Album art was never my issue though.

Songs with ID3 album art is very hit and miss with this player.
