just saw it here (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/wireless-shooter/eye+fis-2gb-wi+fi-sd-card-coming-this-fall-268101.php), my first thought too was the d2 :D

I don't think the D2 can read SDIO cards.

They'd be useless anyway, the point of these new cards is that when you take a picture it uploads it to Flickr or such. The only advantage I could see is if it allowed you to fill the card with content over WiFi... then again I'm happy plugging it in and just drag an dropping. :)

I think the main point of them is to provide wifi access to PDAs that don't already have built in wifi. If it worked in the D2 then there's no reason why network capable software (e.g. browsers, email, music download services) couldn't be added. Unlikely to happen with the official firmware, but if rockbox or similar was installed and the hardware did support SDIO then this functionality could be added with no trouble.

which brings us to the cpu power of the D2 and that only low complexity Flash apilactions can run,

do the math, running a wifi card would 1) kill the processor with load, the player would just hang, 2) kill your battery in 30 minutes

Naaa, the D2 has more than enough processing power to run a web browser over wifi. It has more power than older PDAs which have been able to run browers over wifi connections for years. Likewise with mobile phones.

The poor flash perfomance is more likely due to cowon's crappy implementation of the Flash VM, or possibly also because flash is, lets face it, just a bit crap (performance wise anyway). Native applications should run at least an order of magnitude faster, if not more.

The one thing the D2 is not short of is processing power. Battery resources aren't an issue either.
