Hi guys, last night I was fooling around with these Jabra EarGels that came with my handsfree Jabra headset for my cellphone and I discovered that they do wonders for bass when used with the earbuds that came with the I5! I first removed the round grey rubber covers from the I5 earphones, then put the Jabra EarGels on. After installing these the bass is amazing, no distortion, deep and strong. For any of you owners who are using stock earphones that came with a I5, I4, U2, G3, etc. who want better sound without buying more expensive earphones should give this a try. You can buy the Jabra EarGels separately and three different sized pairs are included for only $3 at Amazon. They also come in clear packs or colored packs. Below are the clear and color packs.

There's also the MiniGels which I've not tried, but might work too. They're $5.50 at hellodirect.

If anyone decides to try it let me know what you think. It definitely sounds better from my experience.

PS I've also tried the EarGels with my CW200 stock earphones and it improves the bass too. You could probably use these on any of the stock earphones that came with any of the iAudio players.

Bass is often related to the stiffness of the driver. For my own phones, using silicone rubber on the edges of the driver, where it meets the clip assembly, improves bass,

On the KSC75, altering the fit to be flatter and tighter against the ear improves bass.

On buds, getting anything resembling a seal in your ear should improve bass.

...Or you could just get some headphones like the Koss 60 Ohms, or the Shure E2c, that lready have emphasised boomy, punchy, but not tubby, bass. :)

IMO, the worst thing you can do with any player is to use the stock headphones. Even cheap players sound better with something decent (and decent can be cheap).

Even just a twenty dollar pair of Koss headpones make a difference. Me, I use Sennheiser HD 497s because I got them at half price. :)

I listened to Soft Bulletin by the Flaming Lips on my I5 and the Senn MX500's couldn't the bass...

The bass on some tracks in that album is just crazy
