Hi,
as the d2 supports flash, i was wondering, if there is a nes, gb or snes emulator out there based on flash. I guess technically it would be easier than on a mobile phone which has already been done. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything on the internet. So if you heard of any emulator please let me know.[thumbsup]
Never heard about that. Why do you wanna play those old games on this player? Do you think that's cool?

The D2 has problems running basic flash games at full speed, so you can basically forget about an emulator, unless you want a slideshow instead. I guess it would only be for the novelty of it.

1. Oldies but Goldies
2. huge variety
3. zelda, metroid, secret of mana ... all kinds of puzzle games (you never played
one of these?) still better than most of the flash games

It would be great - many of the old console games are far superior than most flash games (which i find to be quite lame in general). I think the lack of buttons (particularly a D-pad) may pose a problem however!
In one of the flash compilations posted here, there's a Japanese or Korean conversion of an RPG, I think it was Zelda, not sure... but it starts out in a room and you can walk around in it, go outside and wander around... but I couldn't figure out how to converse with people (probably missing a button on the D2 to do it) but it played very well.
It must have be totally re-coded, as I think emulation would be too much for the D2... but it played fine :)
One game where you can see slowdown over a period of time is Bowman. When you first start shooting arrows, it's fast. Then as the arrows pile up on the ground, things gradually slow down.
I could go for some old-school emulated RPGs to waste time. As it is, I have a quick game of Critter Crossing before I start my gym workout. I'm making use of the Flash feature, and look forward to any and all games [smile]
i think that flash gives us the possibility to extend D2's functionality ourselves. of course in a limited way. are flash games in D2 really that useful and needed in D2? or do you want to be a show off in front of your friends?

For me the d2 is a pmp not only an mp3-player. When I travell I like to watch movies or listen to the radio as well as listening to my mp3s. As most of the time I don't travel alone, flash support is very attractive for me (especially multiplayer flash games). I guess most of us have taken a small and mobile version of a board game on a journey to kill some time. Having the same games on your pmp makes it far more portable. It's also a nice way to get through a boring lecture in university. In my opinion flash games are the best way to use the flash support and cowon had games in mind when they did the 2 control schemes.
It is possible to codean emulator in AS3 but definitely not in AS2 for FLP2.1

i'll wait for some D2 dedicated games and maybe that'll change my opinion
Same thing with my cellphone. Everytime I get a new phone, I'm tempted to buy a couple games on it, I play with it, then I think the games suck and I don't buy anything else. I often feel it's silly to play games on a phone, but then again if you're in places like Japan where you're riding bullet trains for hours to and from work, cellphone games have a place.
In cases like this, Flash games on the D2 are cheaper (free!) and I've already found games like Critter Crossing and Bowman that are better than anything I've played on my Verizon phone.
All I need are 1 or 2 games on my D2 for those times when I'm tired of music and videos and want a little finger-numbing screen-mashing action.
We may never see the source code for the D2, so flash programming's the next best thing. I wouldn't say emulating other devices to play games are going to be great - they may be slow and clunky - but creating flash apps that allow users to drag-and-drop their own custom graphics and/or text files would be useful. Such as a flash picture viewer with more options for zooming, or adding overlays, or a flash txt/pdf/ebook viewer that rivals the D2's built in app.
I guess those aren't emulators, but I wouldn't know what you'd call them. Flash apps that let you drop in your own files.
In my heart I'd like to see Atari's Tempest on the D2 [biggrin]

There is a flash game out there called tempest 1000. Unfortunately you have to press f2 to start, so it won't be possible with the current firmware and I don't know if it can mess with the original. I really would love to see something like advance wars from nintendo on the d2, played it for month on my gba. I tried the rpg you mentioned. Pokemon works well for me. To speak with persons you just have to click in their direction when you stand right next to them. Since I don't know the original and I don't speak corean I'll wait for an english version. A big problem as mentioned before is the unability to save in flash games on the d2. A new firmware or games with passwords would help to play rpgs.
Hey COWON !!!
GIVE US A MAME Emulator for D2 :)

Hahahaha! Then we could get a third-party to develop a mini-usb mini-arcade joystick/trackball/spinner combo. Life would be complete [laugh]

Here is Zelda, if anyone could change the controls, I think we could play it!
It could be started by Click down or right and the Space and Ctrl caps assigned to + and -
