Hi All,

I am trying to charge the battery via usb cable but it does not charge. when i turn on the power it says "battery low" then shuts down. Prior to all this, i did change the setting in the general settings and selected not to charge. the reason for this is i wanted to leave the player connected to the usb without it charging it so I can gauge how many hours it lasts and/or preserve its battery life.

Now that the battery is drained and trying to charge it wont, because i guess it remembers that charging setting. how can i change the general setting to "charge" if the battery drained and wont get past the start up screen?

this could possibly be a design flaw on this mp3 player. i even pushed the reset button with and without the cable attached but it does not do anything. this player is fairly new, less than a month old.

i currently have v1.11 (which came with the box) and i run Win XP Pro if that has anything to do with this problem.

ANYONE'S HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Maybe you connect the F2 on a HUB, try to connect it directly to a usb port on the mobo.

Easy way to fix this would to format the memory.

-open JetShell
-File
-Format Device Memory
-click start then... done!

Make sure to reinstall the latest firmware v1.13

Actually if you can get to view the contents of the device from a PC then there is generally a 'settings' file there someplace which is used to store these user options. On my G3 if you delete that you get a new one created with all the default values (and hopefully the default is to charge!). Worth a trey before reformatting the whole device and maybe losing music.

If there not also a mains charger for the F2? Charging with that should not be subject to the 'don't charge from USB' test (although that assumes intelligent firmware).

DO NOT FORMAT DEVICE FOR THIS PROBLEM

You can use your USB cable as an adapter to use your F2 without battery power:

-connect your F2 to your computer;

-wait untill My Computer shows the 'removable disk' of your F2;

-click the "remove hardware safely" in your task bar to disconnect the player from the computer virtually (do not unplug the USB cable);

-in a few seconds, the screen of your F2 will show the loading animation;

-when it shows the loading animation, press the MENU button of your F2 and VOILA! You can use your F2 without battery power!!

-now you can go change the charge on/off setting of your F2!
