Was playing around with the dictionary - it has a few interesting features that i'd never really used before. One is the basic handwriting recognition - i knew it was there but never played with it. It's not great at recognising roman characters (i have great difficulty trying to enter the alphabet without any errors), maybe there's some kind of "graffiti" style letter structure like on some PDAs that it uses (this appears to be the case - drawing X as a cross almost always brings up "t" for me, but if i draw in 'maths style' (ie with a c and a backwards c back to back) it gives x...). It's still easier to use the tiny keyboard i personally think though...

It also has a wildcard search with the usual * and ? matching any or one character as usual. e.g. entering a?e brings up ace, age, ale etc. Kind of crossword solver i guess. There's a bug in that it doesn't seem to work if the wildcard is at the start or end of the entered string though...

It would be nice if the input features in the dictionary worked in some kind of id3 search feature too - they're already available in the dictionary so searching the id3 database shouldn't be too hard to implement! But then.......

Is there any engl. documentation about the dictionary? I got slightly confused by all its functions and icons and stuff.

Seems like i managed to lock it on ENG-ENG. The pronunciation feature is gone in that mode which is a pity. What is the point in pronouncing the engl. term when it is in ENG-KOR mode but not in ENG-ENG mode? That would still be very useful, esp. for a german guy like me. Sometimes i get KOR definitions when i accidentally hit the wrong button.

The "Type" button allows you to change between eng-eng, kor-eng, korean, or all 3. If that's what you mean...

It'd be great if more languages were available, eg german<->english. Can't see it happening, unless we figure out the format of the dictionary database file and make our own (are there online german-english or similar dictionaries that could be used as a source?)

That's true. Hacking the dictionary would be great indeed. GER-ENG, ENG-GER would be fabulous. Some good dictionary on ENG and GER are http://dict.leo.org/ and http://www.woerterbuch.info/. But i guess taking them as source material would cause a major legal hassle.

Sadly i have no clue about hacking and application development systems / programming languages.

there's another extra functionality, if you get into some word definition and then highlight (dragging like you would with a mouse) on some word of the definition and then tap on the highlited word it brings up a context menu allowing you to search for that word on Chambers or translate it to KOR.

VERY VERY nice

I agree. But only works in normal view mode not in full view...slightly disappointing

you can also save words that you have just looked up and these will be saved in your "word book". Once you are in word book, you can test yourself with the quiz function or memorise the words using the exercise book. Excellent features! I've learnt so many new English and Korean words using this function!

I switched to fw 2.46, but I really miss the dictionary. I have more use for one than a notepad. I really should switch back.
