Does anyone know the reason why the US/Europe release date is not known? It seems like it would be a good marketing strategy for Cowon. Get people ready to buy it.

Does it have anything to do with testing or code violations in the US?

Does anyone have any statistics as far as older players are concerned? How long did it take for the US X5 to come out after it came out in Korea, etc...

The 2gb D2 was Korea first, UK/eur about 4-6 weeks after, then another 3-4 weeks to the USA. Add about 4-6 weeks for the 4gb d2. Australia got the 4gb before the Usa. I remember the wait, simular to the q5

It was worth the waiting, just Ill have to cut my credit card up until the 60gb q5 comes[wink]

The problem I'm going to face is whether to buy the low capacity Q5, which is likely to come out first or to wait even long for the larger capacity ::(

One good reason to not give a release date- if you miss an announced date, people will be all over you. If you don't announce a date, people _can't_ be all over you.

Just imagine what would happen if the last Harry Potter book was even a day late. Ah, the panic...

But they already have the product completed. So there is no reason to not make the announced date... What do they have to do? Remove some of the features that won't work in the US (DRM, etc...), change the language and ship the things over here. I just don't understand why that takes weeks.

mabye they have problems with removing the DRM and make the WIFI built in.
i think they hide something because as globex said the product completed.

I dont think we can safely say anything. Its just one of them things, as with all the rest of their products.

We just have to play the waiting game. Im sure international features wont disapoint. Just a word though, did Cowon officially suggest that the Q5 international model will inc wifi?

We also must remember its not only about creating the product but organising suppilers and dealerss with suppliers around the world, packing and shipping these good to dealers and all the work which goes with it.

Hay, at least we dont have the Zune to UK release wait.

Nope it was just a rumour that someone said, and now we all hope and believe it to be true.
