MMmmm sounds interesting, will it have expandable memory? [smile]
Any info about a possible D2 8GB version as well [excited]
this leads me to believe the next generation of the x5 might not be called x7 now due to misunderstandings and simular names with the iaudio 7.
Doesn't Iaudio_Bunny, work for Cowon, and therefore her information should be very reliable.
It's now mentioned on Engadget:

Whenever I see a cowon gadget news on some blog, I immediately jump to iaudiophile to see some report on the main page.. But couldn't find any detailed information on this one on the main page.
ye the front page looks dead. A few more people need privilages to post news on the home page!!

*cough* D1 *cough* [rolleyes]
Maybe they wanted to make refinements to the existing D1 design or something? Gits, I was waiting for this but caved in and got a D2.
EDIT: looks like they gave up on the DAB front though.

Thanks for the link :)
When i read that it can sqeeze 60Hrs out of the battery i gotta say i was impressed [yes]
Now that is a player. I think Cowon should have done more than just add flash memory. However i guess they did seeing that the battery life is 60 hours!!! From the pics it looks like it comes with a nice red strip or the silver. Also it looks like it is thinner than the iaudio 6
Here are some more pics http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-14107-The+iAudio+7+by+Cowon.html

Have Cowon given up on regular batteries?

They haven't said so but from examination of their recent output the answer would appears to be 'yes'. iRiver are not doing too hot in that department either, if you want AA and long battery life rather than AAA and small size.
Not sure what they all think the problem is - the G3 was already small enough for me; any smaller and I'll need a magnifier and tweezers to work it. I mean half the world's population used to carry a packet of 20 cigarettes everywhere (and a lighter) so why try to make DAPs that get lost in your pocket lint ... or fold in half in a stiff breeze.
I am very happy that cowon have finally got 8gb internal flash memory they have been lagging a lot. I am however dissapointed that they decided to get rid of dab that was one feature that got me excited about the D1.
Also 60 hours battery life!!!!!! that is amazing

i can't believe the iAudio 7 will have 60hrs of Battery life. that's crazy!!! i mean i have a F2 2GB* and the the battery life is about 16-21hrs. that's not bad but man i'm looking forward to this... iAudio 7 :)

an 8gb D2 would be awesome also. think about it: 16gb of flash? not bad.
i still hope there is still and X7 in the works though. iAudio Bunny, can you say anything about that?

^I agree an 8GB D2 would be nice indeed [yes]
On the news page here it says:
The player will be released on July 18th at a price of 169,000 won (~$182US) for the 4GB model, and 229,000 won (~$246US) for the 8GB version.
How does that pricing compare to the release price of the D2 in US$ (if anyone remembers)?

i went to the notice section within the Cowon Korea site and i think it's going to be released in Korea July 18th and the price range is... $182 for 4GB model and $246 for the 8GB model.
after the release over there i don't think it should take long for the US to have them. i'd say around two months after at the most.
Well, if you can find it on Newegg, the pricing should get better than that... I seem to remember original pricing on the D2 to be 230 or so rumored for the 4gb, and then it could be found for under 200 shipped...if that happens again, it won't be all that unreasonable.

true mac404 but Newegg isn't going to have the iAudio 7 just like that! i think JetMall.net would be the place to go to first. then we can all go to Newegg within a few days after its arrival at JetMall.et :)
Not sure what they all think the problem is - the G3 was already small enough for me; any smaller and I'll need a magnifier and tweezers to work it. This iAudio 7 is the same thickness as the G3: 19mm. They could've fit a AA compartment in there, I bet. Here's hoping that Cowon makes the i7 be the new U2, and so then comes out with a new G3.
ha... as if 60 hours isn't enough to surpise....
currently... a 16GB version is in devlopment according to the america site (which just posted there iaudio7 as I post this) Of course, techlogogy needs to catch up, therefore it will be our later then the 4 and 8gbs we got now...
wow... just years ago hiting 1GB was a big deal for flash players and now look...
Here's hoping that Cowon makes the i7 be the new U2, and so then comes out with a new G3.
I think it's dumb not to make AA/AAA powered pmp. When the battery's down you just buy a new battery and not send it to service
