Unfortunately we haven't received any official word on the launch of the
iAudio Q5 player, although we believe that we will have it available to

i have this guestimate that both models will be over the £300 mark. I say this because looking at current prices of e.g. archos players e.g. Wifi touch screen model it was priced £299.99 at release, cowon price there products a little higher if i remember correctly.

This company is in the Uk, I remember the availability of the d2 and it was selling in the Uk and some European countries 3-4 weeks before the Usa.

Yup, but expect to pay $100 more for the q5, but they take 17.5% off the website price being their vat (cause its an export) if your not from the uk.

Can we reasonably expect the UK and US Q5s to be the same? (by other model's precedents?) If so I may pay an extra $100 to get it 3-4 weeks earlier in the States. Of course, international shipping rates, longer shipping times, I'll have to see the figures before I make a decision on that one...

I doubt there will be any differences with non korean models, just the ac plug adapter (prongs only) it will have a 100-240v ac adapter.

Dunno about that, I've heard that it won't be available until October, waiting to get a definite confirmation on that though.

I called the official Reseller(www.iAudio.ch) here in Switzerland and asked for the Q5. They told me that they received a notice that it will be launched in Europe from middle to end of August. I also asked why they don't have any information about it on their site, and they said it will be updated in the middle of August.

So it sounds like the release date from Advancedmpr2players is correct...

I am this close to buying the Archos 605 80GB unit when it comes out here in USA/Canada. Initally I wanted the Q5.. so bring it on !

Maybe it just takes longer to get it approved in USA than it does in UK? Or maybe there actually are some engineering differences.

I must admit, even though I'm quite satisfied with our 4GB D2 . . . the Q5 has a terrific appeal about it in preview images and reviews. Considering how we push our D2 around the family members, I am *almost* considering how to justify the significant price difference for a second PMP purchase.

Wish it was flash, though (I know, I know, just idealizing!)

I was a local electronics store the other today and decided to take a look at the archos (they had a bunch of models there) and they all seem to clunky and 1990's to me.

The 605 really didn't have any appeal to me. The navigation also pissed me off. The layout of the buttons is awful. It was funny, as I was trying to press stuff on the screen thinking that it was a touch screen device... haha.

I really don't see Archos as being a competitor. It's worse on all aspect (except price of course...)

Really?, i'm 99% sure the 605 is touchscreen (http://www.dapreview.net/comment.php?comment.news.4037).
Hmm... what competes more, the archos 605 (30/80/160gb) Vs the Q5 or the Archos 705 Vs the Q5, I really can't decide on this one, the thing that separates them most is screen size.

I guess until I can test all three units I'll reserve my judgment for which one is the worst.
