Improved Text Viewability?

I'm running v2.41.

The tiny text is starting to bother me -- do any of the upgrades offer improved text visibility, larger font, etc?

I heard someone made a patch to make the text bold -- its on one of these forums but I'm not sure if I should take a chance and install it...what do you think?

Any other fixes for this issue?

Works for me and I have old eyes...

Applied the patch to 2.46 before installing it : works fine. Helps to have appropriate contrast between text and wallpaper ( try blue on yellow or vice-versa)
