Hi all :)
Does anybody know if Cowon plans to add Musepack support to D2's firmware?
I would do it in 30 mins, if I had access to the code hehe ... closed-source
firmwares are -quite- restrictive... imagine how quickly we would have Gapless
support, more media formats, better video playback and playlist, homebrew
applications, ... with an extensible firmware design (let alone a completely open
design).

atm it is not supported. but you never know, cowon were the first to support *.mpc files in a hardware product (A2), so no stopping them doing it for the D2. Although the D2 may not have the hardware to support such format.
> ya we all wish for open source fw for the D2, but it wont happen.

Yeah, it's not going to happen, unless someone decides to develop rockbox for the device (hint, hint, mehrtash).
As for Cowon adding it in, it's possible, but they have been a bit random in the features they choose to add to their player, so I'd say it's a 50-50 chance.
Write them an email requesting the feature. It can't hurt. And while you're at it, mention some of these (http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14943).

The A2's new firmware supports MPC - why shouldn't it happen on the D2 (without the help of Rockbox)? We can just wait and see... for me, MPC would definitely be more useful than APE support.
