View Full Version : can't read SD Card after upgrading
Hi !
after upgrading to firmware 2.46, the "D2 Ext" folder doesn't appear anymore...
I've tried to downgrade back to version 2.41 and even to 2.20 and it still remains the same : no "D2 EXT" anymore...
Can someone help me please?
Thanx
Rudy
Maybe a stupid suggestion, but did you try taking the SD card out, starting the D2, turning it off, inserting the SD card back in and starting the D2 again?
Thanx for your reply...Yes i did...thousand times [thumbdwn]
I can't find where de problem comes from.
But i've noticed that the Cowon D2 reacts when i insert the SD Card in the slot...the screen comes automatically back to the main menu...
Any suggetion?
Thanx a lot ;))
I think it does that when there is a file on the card it cant read. try taking everything off the card and see if ti recognises it.
i've completely erased the sd card content and the "D2 Ext" folder still doesn't appear.[cursing]
I forgot to tell you guys that i'm on a mac OSX system (tiger) and when i used to access the sd card,i could do it only by USB-linking my Nokia with the sd card inserted in.I've never succeded to access my sd-card directly in the Cowon D2.
But it doesn't matter because i've already succeded to put files on the sd-card by this way,and to read them on the Cowon D2 then.
Please i need help !!!!!!![cry]

I'm having a similar problem too, running 2.46 firmware. My D2 seem to be having problem reading my SD card too.
When the D2 is plugged to the PC and the SD card inserted, Window can see it and I can transfer files to it. When I unplug it from the PC, the D2 can still see the SD. The problem is if I take SD card out of the D2 and then reinsert it.
The D2 cannot read it. It detects the card because I get the spinning circle, the problem is, it just keep spinning....
In order for the D2 to see the card again, I have to plug the D2 back to the PC, insert the SD card follow by safely unplugging it.
Anyone else having similar problem?
I've tried the 3.50b version...not better
Hope someone would help us to fix this problem.

My problem seems to be Linux related. When I copied tracks from my Linux box, the D2 had problem reading the data on the card.
I reformatted the SD card, copied the tracks over from my Window box, and everything is now working fine, the D2 don't hang anymore..

Probably a filesystem/partionning problem gone with the reformatting, now you should retry to transfer files from Linux.
Check also your old kernel messages ( depending on the distribution they can be in /var/log/messages, /var/log/kernel, .. ) about your SD card, Linux should have spotted that kind of error when it wasn't working.
Mine (a Transcend 4Gb 150x) was originally screwed too, there was an useless partition table and the partition was bigger than the card.

I run Linux exclusively and have had no problems with the internal flash or with my SanDisk 4.0GB SDHC card.
What I have had problems with is getting Linux to see the device at all when hooking it up to a PowerMac Dual G4 (USB 1.1-only).
Ow...I think I forgot to tell you about something...i do not use a "real" SD Card, but a MiniSD with an adaptator...Does it explain why:
-i can't see my SDCard on my desktop when i link my Cowon D2 to my MacBook? (anything but my cowon flash memory)
-my SDCard doesn't appear anymore as the "D2 Ext" folder in my Cowon (but it used to until i upgrade to firmware 2.46)?
-i tried to link my Cowon D2 to a PC with the miniSD-with-adaptator inserted in and the "removable disk" appeared on the desktop but didn't work?
Thanks a lot...
