Does COWON look at this forum and consider the posts and requests???
Cowon Mp3 players are the best in audio quality, yes, but why don't they fix some problems with their TOP MP3 PLAYERS.
It is seen that the Fonts of D2 so small for a 2.5" device. Too much space but Too small fonts. It is so easy to fix it but why.............
Playlist Feature. I think it is very very important feature for a PRO AND PREMIER MP3 Player(s). I want to make playlists on the device on the go and listen to music so... I think it is not so difficult to add this feature.
Shuffle Mode .... Searching,Rating,Selecting and Marking the songs,Files for easy adding to Playlist or Deleting,....multiple files....
We can live without notepad but we buy music machines [cool] and before any other things it must be strong as a MUSIC MONSTER not a drawing board.
I think someone from COWON consider these written messages.
THANKS COWON FOR FREQUENT FIRMWARE RELEASES BUT I THINK IT IS MORE IMPORTANT :::
A BUG-FREE AND MUSIC RELATED FEATURE RICH AUDIO MONSTERS ...:jamming:
Yes Cowon will never sell good if they don't fix bugs.

I agree with you totally on most of the issues, Cowon need to start looking at the problems and not sugar coating the Firmwares with other features BUT do you really need to make two threads to make your point......
http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=15004 [confused]
I support what you are doing guventr23, because its time that someone did something about the fact that Cowon are ignoring the real issues. Now if Cowon read this forum, they would be able to see the polls made by the people who use their players. Then maybe they will respect it and implement the bug fixes but saying that adding features is still good.
Cowon do visit these forums occasionally to identify problems. Although i dont know what part of the forum they are looking at comparing to the bugs found in fw's.
Totally agree with the op
Your best course of action is to email them, get enough emails and they will do something, we did it when the sdhc support came up.
Simular to this thread, the next firmware the issue was solved (sort of), If Cowon dont know they wont take action

Register and email them link below, no matter where your from. I dont use playlists but will support your action

i couldnt agree more... the people at cowon should be focusing on making the player easier to use and making it easier to find, organize, and play music! I don't see why cowon insists on adding a notepad, flash support and other such extraneous features when there is so much room for improvement in terms of the player's usability and features which actually deal with playing music.
YES, I agree... it would be great to be able to delete files AND Folders... wether your in ID3 Library mode or the Folder Browsing mode.
YES, I would love to be able to make, save, and name MULTIPLE playlists directly on the player!
Or how about being able to search for a song so its easier to find specific songs...
OR how about being able to RATE Songs... I mean there is a lot of empty space on the now playing screen... the D2 DOES have a touch screen... these are all features that would make the D2 an actual premier MP3 player!
I love how cowon posts frequent firmware updates and I especially loved the support for SDHC cards but still.... I dont understand them... i dont get it.
I am very happy with how the cowon firmware updates are going. To be honest, they fulfilled almost all of what I asked for. Only thing left is reducing video restrictions. It's good they've added the extra features like notepad, flash, and dictionary. I think they should just spend the next few updates just working out the kinks and making sure everything works as expected.

Right. I am sick of all those features making D2 "Ultimate Entertainment Machine". Why to have flac 1.1.4 support? We can play flash game, or draw something instead? Why do you need bugfixes? You paid money and now it's your problem. Why do we need playlist? They are just useless. Why to support id3tag v2.4? All noobs can just convert their tags or learn to read this chineese stuff appearing instead. My 3 year old, good Dell DJ supports playlists and id3tags v2.4. One step back Cowon.
I sent Cowon USA a long mail via their online support form 10 days ago, complaining about their messed up priorities - adding all that useless crap instead of fixing bugs. I didn't receive any answer yet. (No, I didn't write "useless crap" in my letter to them, I kept it polite.)
I know that Cowon USA is the worst, most incompetent, branch of the whole company, but unfortunately I couldn't find a similar support form for Cowon Global or Germany.

Yea but look at the request threads, some people still want :
- flashpaper support
- chronometer
- photo retouching
- tamagotchi
- ..
Look here, at this poll about fixing broken stuff vs. adding new stuff: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14943

I used the following to submit a bug report to Cowon Global -
http://www.cowonglobal.com/support/support.php
You have to register a free account with them to use the Q&A but I did get a response from them within a couple days I think.
Now that's what I call well hidden... sheesh. Who would think "Q&A" means "direct support/mail"... and you jjust get a rude popup when clicking on that link: "Register first" - with no link where to register... Good job keeping the customers away from support, Cowon. ;)
On Cowon America there's simply a logical "click for email support" link (with a field for registration next to it): hhttp://www.cowonamerica.com/support/

Playlist Feature. I think it is very very important feature for a PRO AND PREMIER MP3 Player(s). I want to make playlists on the device on the go and listen to music so... I think it is not so difficult to add this feature.
This is the MAIN and only thing I like to poke at since it is IMO THE easiest thing to implement yet is so vital.
I owned the iAudio m3 and even that had playlist support. So why in all infinite wisdom do we have a device with Flash support & tons of other features NOT have ANY multiple playlist support of ANY KIND!??!?
Not just the D2 but the A2 (which i'm switching from since I'm needing the extra portable size) lacks multiple playlist support.
There is NO good excuse not to have multi playlist support at all. I'm technical enough to know that there's NO technical limits to a player as capable as this seeing how a playlist is just a mere text file that a player reads from. If you can add SDHC support to a player then why the hell isn't MULTIPLE PLAYLIST SUPPORT OF SOME SORT IMPLEMENTED?!?!? Simple:
1) "It isn't that important... maybe next firmware... yawwwwn"
2) "Maybe we should add support to play .midi files!! [thumbsup] "
3) "When we think of another BS excuse we'll post it here"
4) "Flash Pong anyone? [thumbsup] "
5) "How about Flash Jeopardy? [thumbsup] "
Sorry if I sound alittle pissed but Cowon gets too many things right to screw up on this one little detail which irks the hell out of me. Obviously I'm pretty satisfied with everything else they implement into their stuff otherwise I would've long went the way of Apple or iRiver. In the end if their developers are smart enough to create feature rich players & have in the works a touch screen 30-60GB player with wifi & real web browsing... then there is NO EXCUSE for not implementing a very simple yet effective way to run multiple playlists of SOME SORT (again... not a codec, not support for running windows XP off of a SDHC card, but just reading multiple playlists on this damn thing).
Damn... that rant exhausted me.... so many caps lock that must've been it [yawn]
This is the main thing that bugs me, and I'm sure would be easy to fix although I'm not a coder or anything. When your browsing through music, you're forced to make a quick decision. I like to think about what I want to listen to next without a time limit. But if you don't pick something within the allowed time (about 7-8 seconds is what I timed it at) it goes back to the now playing screen. Then you have to start all over again to get back to where you were. This is totally unnecessary, because you could just push the close button if you want to go back. I don't think it should ever time-out, until you make a choice or hit the close button. I'm forced to keep hitting the up/down buttons while I'm trying to decide which folder/track to choose.
Am I the only one that's annoyed by this?

No, you're definitely not the only one. It's *so* annoying. That, and the fact that .ogg files play out of track order, are the only niggles I have with the D2. And they should both be so easy to correct! [cursing]

Me 2, although unconciously. I never reflected over that it could be fixed... Extremely frustrating!!

Oh, you are sooo right! I hate this too! Can Cowon release a firmware update for this????
There are two main issues for me:
1. I agree that such a basic feature as Playlists should be supported by the D2. I have a 1 GB iRiver T30 that even has Playlist support. This is the most disappointing for me.
2. A sleep function. I use my player at work and often have people come into my office or I have to leave my desk. I really hate having to turn the player back on everytime. I would much rather be able to set a 5 or 10 minute sleep timer which turns off the screen but doesn't turn off the player - just come back and touch the screen to get going again. Exactly the same as a computer. Can it be that difficult?

I'm sorry, but thats just rediclous. People are actilly asking for that? god at this rate....
I argee totally. hell even the rating feature is stupid and pointless... fix the bugs (includeing that menu deal you guys dislike) and take away all the crap that they added as well

well there is a sleep mode
Settings > Timer you can either set a timer or increase the time the D2 needs to be idle to switch off automatically
Even the sleep timer is unnecessarily crippled IMO - why reduce the time to a maximum of 60 minutes? My X5 has 120 minutes, my Samsung YP-U1 has 120 minutes... why the hell would one need to reduce the de-facto standard to 60 minutes?
I guess fixing that needs about two lines of code altered in the firmware...

NO! this pisses me off too, BIG-STYLE.
[blush] My bad. It would actually be the Auto Off feature that I was looking for. I don't know why I never noticed it.
Alright then, make the playlist support the only real thing I find lacking.
currently my D2 is in v2.46 firmware...
what i want in future firmware is....for picture mode....to include "up 1 level of folder" in each thumbnail page....
it's a bit troublesome to move back to the beginning of the folder in order to see that icon so that i can move back 1 level of folder and continue with another photo selection...otherwise...i have to go to main menu --> pictures --> D2 EXT --> blah blah blah in order to see another folder.... [surrend]
hopefully this can be out very soon.... [help]
So I guess I'm not the only one who is annoyed with the browser timing out problem. I tried to contact Cowon Global using the link previously posted in this thread, but I couldn't get past the registration. I registered but never received the password in my email. Mabey somebody else can try who is already registered , or mabey I will try again later with a different email address.
Hopefully somebody from Cowon reads this thread and will fix it in the next firmware.
The D2 is such a nice & good player, yet there are so many annoying things in the firmware. I really hope Cowon's programmers get it right soon, as I'm afraid they will leave the player as it is if they don't fix it in the coming weeks.
They will have new players to work on...
