What is your opinion about this? Selecting and marking the files then add them to playlist... I think it is not easy to add one file then another and another... So we can add various files in various folders easily...???
I mean ctrl + mouse click in windows.
Forexample there are 100 songs in a folder and you want to select and add some of them. So you will select multiple songs and easily add to playlist. I think it must be for a touch screen pda-like mp3 player when its name is COWON !!!
Please don't make consecutive posts when you can just edit your original post to include the additional information. Thanks.
Yeah, I want the multiple select feature. It is tiresome indeed to make a playlist one by one.
I like this idea. My first ever DAP, the Dell DJ 15GB, had a feature where you could hit the Play button and immediately play the selected song, or you could press down on the thumbwheel/barrel and it would give a context menu to add the track to a playlist, delete it, view its ID3/codec info, etc. You do this not only with individual tracks but with entire albums, artists, and genres. No other player I've ever seen has had this context-menu feature.
What would be really great on the D2 would be a box next to each track on the list for checkmarks. Check some of them, then hit a button to bring up a menu to delete all selected, add all selected to a certain playlist, etc.
i think cowon should be adding features like this which enhance music playability the primary purpose of the D2 before adding stuff like flash. They should be trying to make their player easier to use especially since it has a touch screen
I agree - they really need the equivalent of a 'right click' menu (they already sort of have one with their system now) but we really need to be able to easily do multiple select as well as just easily instantly play any level we are currently at in the menu system!

I'm an atheist however I pray every day for a firmware "of the century" that will make music browsing and playing perfect.
This is the list of what Cowon should do, in a logical order of priority :
Tag support is having heavy problems since x.53b (that's why I'm still using 3.51). All tags get screwed up at some point, and we must do some tricks to rebuild a proper database, and then it gets screwed up again after some time, etc. The mess doesn't only affect the music library, but also folder browsing which then has a very weird behaviour, and also wrong tags displayed on the playing screen.
There are even more problems since 3.53b, like for example some sort of "chameleon" albums in the music library: items in the album list that do not display the album name but change when selecting a nearby item..
Fix "Add to DPL" for full albums/artists in tag browsing. THIS IS AN HORRIBLE BUG, WHY... HOW CAN YOU HAVE NOT FIXED SUCH BUG FOR ONE YEAR THAT IS TO SAY SINCE THE D2 IS OUT ?
Fix OGG track ordering in the music library. 3.54 firmware has made some progress in that direction but there is still a little bug: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showpost.php?p=165220&postcount=70
Being able to re-arrange tracks would make playlist creation more bearable.
Let the user set the timeout of music browsing menus. ARG!!! WHY DID YOU SET THE CURRENT TIMEOUT BACK TO 10 SECONDS SINCE 3.53B ???
( Investigate the background noise issue heard with some earphones. See: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=15018 )
Enable to load/save DPL from/into the playlist folder (e.g to a generic name like 0001.*** that can be renamed later once back to computer). THIS WILL MAKE PLAYLIST MANAGEMENT SO MUCH LESS FRUSTATING AND SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL!!!
Enable to select multiple files at once (to add them to the DPL, or to remove them from the DPL, or to move them, etc.).
The "good-sense" way to order tracks in those tag modes :
- Albums : track tag > filename order ( DO NOT use title alphabetical order, this is a pain especially for podcast management )
- Artists → "All" : same than Albums but several contiguous albums
- Artists → an album : same than Albums
- and in all modes : id3v2 > id3v1
In the "Artists" mode add an option to group tracks from a same album but various artists into a "Various Artists" item. That's the way good music library software (MediaMonkey, Amarok) do.
Boundary "All" isn't very useful in the music library, while someone (like me) might want to listen multiple albums at once.
Then add an option to shuffle "Albums" instead of "Tracks".
Do not automatically switch the Music list into Folder browsing when using DPL or Bookmarks.
Add counters (audioscrobbler!), ratings, intelligent playlists (like advanced music players do, for example Amarok and MediaMonkey ), and wider tag support ( enc. text for podcasts, .. ), and lots of other things to make D2 the music player it deserves to be !
Please Cowon !

What I would also like is that video and audio have their own package of settings! Now when I turn repeat off for video (since that's quite useless there), it gets also turned off for music playback :(
Next, Searching for files would be nice...just put some small keyboard on screen and let us search on artist / trackname by tapping letters (like the hangman game).
Last but not least, moving files between SD and internal memory is someting I too would like quite a lot!
Ow, maybe be able to set multiple images to rotate as background, say once every day...but that more for fun.
Ah, lets not forget the 24h clock...we people in Europe are not used to 12h clocks :)
edit: fixing the video-sync problem would be nice too of course, though I don't know if thats a firmware or encoding probbie...
Put me down for 3 votes for ratings and for play counters - That'd be AWESOME!!!
How about a 24h clock?!
We are SOME people in the world that uses the 24h system...
It is a problem for me when setting alarm etc. always does it wrong [mad]
This can't be sooooo hard to fix!!!

Speaking of clocks...why can't they fix the problem with it when the time reaches 12am? I've only heard one or two other people mention this, but both my D2 and i6 read 00:00am once the clock strikes midnight. Only after 00:59am does the time appear normal again.

Why so many songs in a folder? I try to keep my folders manageable, no more than thirty songs, give or take. If I think I have too much music, I just create a new folder.

Normal to who?
Being retired from the military, I prefer the 24 hour clock or military time. Works better if you are always kept in the dark. [biggrin]

AMEN to that ! Flash games are just silly. If I'm going waste time playing games, I'll do it on a real gaming machine like a PSP, Gameboy, computer, etc... Is there any flash app that's really useful? What is the purpose of notepad? I don't get it.
The D2 should be first and foremost audio/video! Put my vote down for file marking and Cyberdyskinesia's list too.
Should we start a poll on what is more important? Music or flash games?

Ha, never noticed that, you're right! Slightly bizarre, kind of half way between the 12 and 24 hour clocks. They should stick to one or the other, or better let you select like people say (24hr is clearly superior in my opinion!) Can't be more than a 10 minute job to fix...

I wholeheartedly second that. How can the Cowon programmers be so ignorant? The X5 and U2 had a 24h clock - what's wrong with Cowon at the moment? Did they fire all their good coders or something?
I'd rather have all the persistent issues with the main functions fixed instead of superfluous crap like a dictionary, notepad, and Flash support...
the U2 had a 24 hour clock? pretty sure mine is a 12 hour only

I have the same problem, can never learn which is am and which is pm (shouldnt be to hard to learn though). But why cant they just implement a 24h clock? that shouldt be too hard. And i cant understand why they dont do it while for example the u2 have it.....

It would be good if you could just add a full artist or album to the dpl.
