Let's keep this really concise (no repeats, no comments), so Cowon programmers have an easy-to-read list to go by (in case they look here, which they should). I'll include everything I remember from the various threads. Feel free to add what I forget, but please be CONCISE.
I'm adding a poll to see most users' priorities.

the main feature i want is that the D2, when plug to a PC, loads usb drivers before doing anything else funny, like rebuild/load the music library. So, in case of problem during this process, you'll be able to connect to a pc and solve it.
Record to SD/SDHC, mp3 recording would be nice too.
@seifip - Estimated remaining battery life would be tricky, since it's dependant on what function you're using. List ERT for audio/video/both?

Bug fixes
Already listed by others above.
New but basic features
Default startup volume (to protect headphones)
Bug Fixes
- id3 browsing for OGG files (and WMA I guess :P ) TO RESPECT TRACK ORDER IN TAGS like the fix already in place for MP3
New Functions
- play folder, to work in both id3 browsing and file /folder browsing mode, to play everything in the current directory including subdirectories.
Improved interface (this should've been one of the poll options above IMHO)
- improve the dragging to scroll functions (hold down to keep going)
- remove some of the double clicking (menu screens for example)
- layout of the now playing screen could use a makeover (example N2)
Interface changes:
- Thicker seekbar to use it with finger (like for radio mode)
- larger album picture (maybe background???)
Library caps:
- deleting pictures and movies
- search
- rating support
Also (i'm using WMP10 and dynamic lists for sync):
- sync rating by MTP
- if possible sync last played time and play counter with WMP library also by MTP (as it works for smartphones)

Page up and page down "buttons"
"Icon" view for folders as well as "List view"

i would like to add:
- an addition EQ point set adjustable from 30-60hz
- more options for setting the functions of the hard buttons when the key lock is on. ideally press + = volume up, hold + = next track ect
- the ability to remove all id3-related browsing options and leave only browse-by-folder.
- let us get our hands on the source code so we can get rockbox on the unit
I'd like to add the following to the list...
NEW FUNCTIONS/FEATURES
A File Manager utility where you can copy, move and delete files and folders in both internal and external (SD card) memory.
The possibility to enable the TV-out feature globally for every menu, which would be especially nice for displaying pictures on the TV and also for hooking up the D2 to your stereo system using the A/V cable.
To be able to play video files without requiring to convert them to 320x240 resolution first, as well as support for higher resolution TV-out if possible.

Most important IMHO:
- Fix shuffle. (As it is you can get a song twice even if repeat is off.)
- Gapless playback. (Don't need it myself, but sounds like a biggie for some.)
- Auto-resume play. (Would be very useful.)
- FLAC 1.1.4 support. (Out-of-date FLAC support is useless, since FLAC people reencode their music collections with the latest and greatest.)
- Cut-off words in text viewer. (Not nice at all when reading!)

Please fix/stabilise the bookmark function and the DPL - or am I the only person whose bookmarks and DPL entries disappear without reason????
I think, D2 is already near perfect - if only Cowon programmers spent more time on fixing bugs :)
Having considered PSP and similar devices in that price segment, an image of the ideal video player has come up. It's D2, only with 3.5" 16:9 screen. And it'd be better to replace the whole touch-screen feature with just two additional buttons.
Wow! So much enthusiasm, amazing! I wonder if anyone from the firm listens to all this tho' ;/
I think it's a good idea:
"if hold is activated, short press of the M button allows the +/- buttons switch their function between volume control, and rewind/fordward. Long press is Pause/Play."
What about using it like mobile tv. (with an external device)
Fix the important and/or annoying stuff before new PDA-wannabe toys are implemented:
When browsing for files, the menu automatically returns too fast to the "now playing" screen.
Resume does not really "resume", only remembers the place you've been in a track - needs 3 clicks/taps to start playing. All other players resume playing as soon as you turn them on.
Bookmarks and dynamic playlist for files on the SD card disappear when swapping SD cards.
Deleting folders only works on empty folders on the SD card, but works normally on the internal memory. When trying to delete a folder containing files on the SD card, it just doesn't do it.
Sleep timer goes only up to 60 minutes. All other players have 120 minutes.
Custom secondary function on the menu button does not work in video mode (i.e. play/pause), when "hold" isn't engaged.
No 24h clock (only American 12h AM/PM clock), even if German/French/etc menu is available.
Records to WMA, not MP3 or WAV. At least MP3 would be much more useful than the proprietary WMA codec.
Only plays 320x240 videos, even if a bitrate of at least 2000kbps is supported (that's more than enough for displaying 640x480). At least the TV-out should support a larger video size than 320x240.
Does not play MPEG1 or MPEG2, which is easier to decode than MPEG4.
I just opened a support account on the Cowon website and mailed them about the things that annoy me in the firmware. I suggest you all do the same. It might speed up things.
there is much to ask but i'll ask only thing for now
pic animation support. (gif ect'...)
Just adding my vote:
- True TV-out output of the entire screen, including any audio/video file that I'm playing. (that is, I get both sound and picture output on my TV or whatever)
- Support for Ogg tags (i.e. Xiph comments)
- Support for (Ogg) Theora videos

-IMPROVE SOUND QUALITY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ON D2 -- TAKING IT CLOSER TO X5
-GIVE US TRUE PARAMETRIC EQUALIZER
-ADD MORE BANDS TO EQUALIZER (7 BAND WOULD BE GREAT).
Dear Cowon, if you improve the sound quality on D2 even more and make it the undisputed sound quality king of flash-based mp3 players, the D2 will sell millions more units.
Alternatively, if you invest in designing the next step up from D2 (flash-based) and invest in making it the ultimate in sound quality, the investment will be rewarded with huge sales worldwide. Make that unit, and the world will buy it. I think Cowon can do it. I don't know if they have the will.
Surprised I'm the only one requesting this - to me its an obvious missing function:
Alarm clock:
Allow me to specify settings that it wakes me up with so I dont have to remember each night to reset it to the quiet gentle wake up I want.
When setting the alarm let me specify:
* Wake up volume
* A playlist / album / etc to start when playback starts for the alarm
* RATINGS!!! I want to be able to choose tracks by ratings! Give us this ID3 tag
* ALBUM ARTIST rather than just artist - I like to listen to albums not songs and when I add a compilation album it gives me like 15 extra artists in my artist list even though they each only have one track - I just want them put under say a 'Various Artist' tag - should be optional to use artist or album artist
Then as others:
* Ability to save DPL to a playlist
* A 'search' option in settings so you can quickly filter down the files you are currently viewing.
* Simplify the whole 'DPL' concept - way too complex for your average user (i'm a techie and took me ages to sus it out) - the 'settings' when browsing files should contain: 'play', 'add to playing now', 'delete', 'rename'
right now we just have 'add to DPL' - theres no way to let me just instantly play any lvl of the menu I'm at (say 'Rock' while in the Genre menu) - I have to add it to the DPL menu then go into that and play it - way too complex.

NEW FEATURE:
- A "Line Out Mode" toggle button, accessible from the music playing screen in 2-3 clicks max. It would automatically change the volume to 49 and EQ settings to all flat, which is the recommended configuration for using the headphone jack as a line out. A little mode indicator on the playing screen would be great, too.
This would be a GREAT convenience for users who use the D2 in their car or living room a lot, and it should be easy for the programmers to implement.
-GIVE US TRUE PARAMETRIC EQUALIZER
-ADD MORE BANDS TO EQUALIZER (7 BAND WOULD BE GREAT)
The EQ is hardware based, it's specific for the Wolfson WM8985 chip inside the D2. That's why it sounds quite well - but you can't add bands or true parametric features by firmware - it wouldn't work on the hardware. It would be a software based solution, and it would sound like crap.
Here are the specs of the WM8985: http://www.wolfsonmicro.com/products/WM8985/

change the volume to 49 and EQ settings to all flat, which is the recommended configuration for using the headphone jack as a line out.
If this "recommended settings" work as advertised then they should be added to the Info & Tips sticky.
Another thing I've really been missing the last week or so is ReplayGain support... I loved not having to tweak my volume settings every 10-15 minutes.
New:
* Alarm - add better options rather than just once off, daily - add weekly days (ie Mon-Fri) so that the alarm doesn't go off on me over the weekend.
Changes:
* why am I using up and down to choose the value for the alarm clock - so much effort ugh! When I click on a unit it should just bring up a grid onscreen of 0-9 and one click lets me choose instantly with one touch which value I want instead of 5 clicks later.
I love this touch screen, lets make the most of it!!
Another thing I've really been missing the last week or so is ReplayGain support... I loved not having to tweak my volume settings every 10-15 minutes.
You can use MP3Gain instead... I like it more than ReplayGain because it's not dependent on hardware support. ;)
NEW FEATURES
- Programable recordings. (For FM and Voice) If the player is powered off then turn it on and start recording. Like the A2.
- File browsing with options to explore, move and/or delete a file or folder. Or at least place the settings button in the text file and picture browse interface that permit to delete a folder (with or without pictures/text files inside) or a single picture/text file like in music or movie list.
- Scroll bar in text mode
- Search function for word or phrase on text mode
- Programable recordings. (For FM and Voice) If the player is powered off then turn it on and start recording. Like the A2.
Programmable FM recording is already there... (Settings>Timer>Wakeup mode>FM Record)
Animated Flash wallpapers like on iRiver Clix!!! pls :)

- Fix .ape ffw,rew bug
- implement classification by track number

I have maybe 2-3 albums as MP3, the rest are Ogg Vorbis. [sad]
i think that all of these suggestions will appear in iaudio7 and D2 will remain buggy.
i think that all of these suggestions will appear in iaudio7 and D2 will remain buggy.
Actually, D2 inherited some bugs from previous players... [rolleyes]
They reuse some parts of firmware code for most players.

F/W of Cowon D2 is still very buggy. I'd prefer fixes of basic functions instead of notepad, flash, etc.
These are bugs, that have to be repaired:
support for id3tag v2.4 (even my old Dell DJ supported them, using D2 I have to convert all my tags, not too comfortable)
support for FLAC 1.1.4
folders can be added to DPL
fix tag view, so no double records appear (tags are good)
real resume on turning on
"folders can be added to DPL"
What do you mean? folders can be added to the DPL already.

Here's a few more to add to the already wonderful list we've got going:
-Fix the out-of-sync issue with Xvid-encoded videos once and for all, including videos with B-frames
-Support for Divx versions 4 & 5 (although I understand if it's just too taxing on the processor)
-Get rid of the pixelated photos delay--getting rid of EXIF info does this already, so it seems like it should be easy to fix
-AAC/M4A support, please!! It used to be in there, put it back, and make it support .M4A files properly this time!
-FLV (Flash video) support, so I can get my YouTube groove on
NEW FUNCTION:
PUSH-TO-HEAR via firmware, using internal mic (configurable; i.e. levels, button or screen activated etc.)
- Push-to-Talk with pad -20dB will be great
- Display on audio files mono or stereo they are
- Voice/Line-in Record to .mp3 and to SD card
- Ability files from the SD card to the internal memory to transfer, mmmm, yes
- AAC/mp4 files support
- And more strong with the Force to be that firmware, yes

NEW FUNCTION:
PUSH-TO-HEAR via firmware, using internal mic (configurable; i.e. levels, button or screen activated etc.)
What is this push-to hear/push-to-talk feature that you guys are talking about? I know "push to talk" from the concept of walkie-talkie-like features on a cell-phone to communicate with another person, but I can't imagine how this would apply to the D2.... Is it like, you're listening to music, then suddenly inspiration hits for you to record a mental note or conversation and you hit a button to record, then when you're done you hit the same button and it goes back to playing music?

I'm not mentioning the music player's basic functions problems because they're all over this thread and I'd like to see those fixed too.
* the ability to copy/move files to/from SD.
PICTURE VIEWER:
* I'd want to be able to see the PICTURE's NAME in full screen. "M" has no function in picture mode so it could toggle filename.
* +/- to be used for next and previous in full screen because of the buttons that cover the picture. This function could be toggled from Settings just like the one for +/- to <</>> while on hold.
TEXT READER:
*FLAT BACKGROUND WITHOUT BORDER AND WITHOUT GRADIENT!!!!
*a small PROGRESS BAR and CLOCK which can be toggled with "M"
*SEARCH
*Clear fonts without pixels and smoother increments
NOTEPAD:
If D2 can load 4 mpx pictures while playing music it must be able to:
* be able to play music while taking notes or drawing.
* DELETE button smaller or better, under a menu. I hit it accidentally quite often.
* more colors
NEW APPLICATION:
A notepad with a small keyboard similar to the one in the Dictionary, which can edit and save text. So the current Notepad can be renamed to Paint.
Nothing new, just fix every current bug on the d2

Dominic, I have the feeling that all the bugs that people keep complainig on and on will eventually get fixed. I have no doubt about that. It might take a few months though... Or even if I sound a bit naive I still hope it will be the next megaFW [biggrin]

No - definitely Push-to-HEAR. You can buy hardware to go between earphone and player that, when you press it's button, interrupts your listening and uses it's built in mic to pass you outside noise.
very useful if you have good isolating earsphones that aren't very easy to remove and replace in your ear quickly.
as the d2 has a built in mic, it would be pretty simple to implement i think.

The aggravating thing is that many bugs are so incredibly easy to fix (24h clock, menu close delay, sleep timer, ...) - it wouldn't take even 5 minutes (contrary to taking months, as you mentioned) for a skilled programmer... but they just don't fix them.
I would so appreciate ogg tags, or the option to turn off the ID3 database completely as at the moment i don't (can't) use it.
the option to turn off the ID3 database completely
Now that would be incredibly awesome... I gotta write a new mail to Cowon. :)
I should also add bi-directional support to the list. I have lots of files that have Arabic names, and although the individual characters render just fine, they are all disjoint and in reverse order. If the D2 supports unicode, it should also support bi-directional languages.
look what we , Russians need )

Wouldn't it be nice if the ability to change screen orientation (horizontal/vertical) was added to future firmware, to make it easier to operate the D2 with one hand. Holding the player in my right hand vertically with the cowon-logo next to my thumb, I have the M and +/-buttons close to my index-finger. What if there were other controls such as "next song"-button and play/pause on the upper part of the touchscreen, easily operated with my thumb, and coverart and more on the bottom half of the screen in this position. This woud be a great improvment.

This old man wants larger fonts.
I do not care to have a small thumbnail of album art while the song is playing - how useless!!
Use the space to allow for larger fonts. You have all that room on the screen and do not make use of it.
I can hear the music playing, I do not need to see volume/equalizer bars moving.
Please give me larger fonts on the screen.
I voted to fix bugs, because I'm a repairman by day and when I fix things I can't move on until the initial problems are fixed.
When the bugs are fixed, then I'm for a resume that starts playing when you turn the player back on without having to go to Music and pressing play.
The 5 sec. time-out when browsing files is annoying too. I'd make it user adjustable.
Finally, the ability to delete files from the player is really useful for podcast addicts.
I'm with cmetzner too... larger fonts would make a great addition!
IMHO, the last thing Cowon should do is flash. I've checked out all the flash stuff here and there is nothing actually useful. Flash games are retarded. I'm trying to imagine how the calculator would come in handy... but maybe I'm retarded because I can't think why I would want my mp3 player as a calculator [wacko]

FIX
Allow multiple playlists (m3u). Come on Cowon, my ipod friends are laughing at me! [blush]
IMPROVE
Add Composer to ID3 categories. Why is this not yet added? It really makes the D2 much better for people who listen to classical music.
NEW
Add 'up' arrow button to pop-up menu. There is previous / next track, why is there no 'up one level' in the menu structure'? Linked to this, I support the request to increase the 'idle time' when browsing for music.
-Give the ability to turn off browser time-out. (#1 priority)
-Add next/previous folder buttons in pop up control menu.
-Show track number in id3 info.
-Make resume play go back to same part of song (not the beginning) when you turn the player on, without having to push music then play.
Do this and add m3u playlist support and this player would be perfect in my opinion.
-Make resume play go back to same part of song (not the beginning) when you turn the player on, without having to push music then play.
Make the ability to have this optional if added, as I do not want my D2 to start playing the second I turn it on and am happy the way the D2 currently utilises its resume play feature.

Me too - so, who's up for kicking bkd11 off the board for such a silly suggestion? Huh? HUH?!
Just kidding. :p
I voted for new features as the emphasis, with fixing bugs always being a given, but secondary in my current priorities. I'll only list a few items, to keep things reasonable.
New:
* Add a "selection timeout" feature, so people can keep menus and overlay displays up as long as they desire
* Support .playlist creation - even if specialized software is needed - for MSC mode. PLA or equivalent format, nothing proprietary.
* Add a user-customizable shortcut menu bar with at least 3 menu items, which pulls down from the top, (i.e., as opposed to where the fixed menus reside today). I don't care if these must be set in jetShell or similar, but having the ability to add a quick jump to Presets (for example) would be fried gold for my usability.
Fix:
* WMV format(s) playback
* Update the online documentation, noting full range of supported audio and video decoding related to firmware level (i.e., sort of a formalized view of change logs), describe issues when moving between MTP and MSC modes, offer process on handling SDHC cards relative to firmware updates, etc.
- wader
...
I just want mp4.aac.m4a support..

OK, OK, make it an option. Sheesh!! You don't have to rip my head off.
I don't think I'm the first person to make such a request. And besides, the resume is an option to begin with, so you could turn it off. But I do respect your opinion if you like it the way it is. It's just that my definition of "resume" is it should take you back to the state it was when you turned it off. So if it was playing a song, then if would begin playing the song again. If you had the song paused, then it would be paused again.
I would also like to make a vote for gapless playback if this is possible. So when you are listening to albums with songs that run together there is no pause. I know this has been posted before too, but I figure the more we mention these things, the better chance someone from Cowon will read it.
And since I'm on a roll, it would also be nice to have higher resolution video support for watching through the tv-out adapter.
Please give me larger fonts on the screen.

- news reader , utility to read and download automatically from internet subscripting news channels , when connected to PC
- hypnotic visualizations in winamp stile

- more pinball games !!! ))))
I edited the list of Trend.
This are also for me interesting improvements.
- I think the newsreader is just an PC-application that makes TXT-files.
-A file manager is a must in new firmware.
- The interactive maps: possible but maybe not core of Cowon and limitation of the 500kb max-size of flash files but I like it. Maybe I will provide a small click able map, I know somebody how can programme such maps.
- External HDD, TV, GPS: maybe with an extra feature "switch plug USB" (to change the AV/DC connector into USB-host)

Yes, I saw that patch and used it and it is an improvement. But -
One reason I bought the player is the size of the screen. I figured that the artist and track name would be visible with the D2 mounted on the dash of my car. The space available for increased font size is taken up by the album art area. Album art - I cannot imagine that anyone cares if it is there!

The space available for increased font size is taken up by the album art area. Album art - I cannot imagine that anyone cares if it is there!
Cover art is the first thing I use to recognize where I am in my music files - it provides instant recognition of the current artist and album, even before reading the song title. I find it highly useful and have now updated 2/3 of my digital files with cover art, in part, to enhance my D2 experience.
My 4 year-old also knows when she is "next track" or "previous track" navigating through a Disney album, The Wiggles, etc. by recognizing the covers.

I'd really like to see the shuffle option re-added back to Videos / Movies (basically just make the features the same as playing audio files). I've been sticking with Firmware V2.20 because I really, really enjoy this feature when watching music videos.
Fortunately, I don't really need any of the additional features beyond V2.20 because I don't have any SDHC cards, don't have FLAC's, OGG's, etc., don't care about Notepads, Dictionaries, or Flash, although I wouldn't mind playing with these new features, but not at the expense of my Video Shuffle Mode!

Yeah I'd vote for those too (and I don't even have a D2) just by way of Cowon demonstrating they have half a clue how to do it .. then maybe they'd do it on the I7 too.
Please fix the issue of the screen timing out whenever browsing the music list.
I agree...that is the one thing I hate about the D2....I'll be listening to a song and decide to browse my music and find something I wanna hear next...and then it suddenly pops back to the music screen...then I'll have to go back and browse to find the song again...
I think that the nice thing about this player is the mic preamp. If the D2 could record in WAV format it could compete with the slew of inexpensive flash recorders out there.
Implement WAV recording please!!
Also full AAC/m4A support

Someone should update the wish list and send it to Cowon.
One thing that Meizu does (and I think iPod does also) is that it dims the screen when you are playing music instead of going totally black. When you touch it will go full brightness. When you pause the player it will blackout the screen after so long. Have all this configurable.
It is nice to look at the beautiful screen once in a while.

i would like a extra setting that enable you to change the default save path for FM, notepad and voice recording to the SD.
I got my D2 yesterday, and in less than 24h I have clearly identified five obvious problems:
* No 24-hour clock? For the love of... nobody sane use a 12h clock. This simply must get fixed.
* The oft mentioned "Suddenly leaving browse mode for play mode". This must be a bug, because I once saw the D2 scrolling the contents of the music library for me, and then a millisecond later -- after this user-invoked activity -- changing back to the play screen. That shouldn't happen. Also, it would be one thing if the player stored where you were and took you back there when you browsed the next time. It'd still be annoying as hell, but at least workable.
* Can only record to lossy WMA?! That makes all recording (FM, mic, etc) useless for me, since I don't do WMA. Need a WAV-mode. There's no way the hardware wouldn't be able to keep up.
* No file manager with internal <-> SD copy functionality. Just copying selected files to a hard-coded directory on the D2 would be good enough for starters.
* The flexible chord on the stylus-thingy is too short. As a leftie, it's very hard (for me I'd even go with "impossible") to use when attached to the D2, since to click at the left side of the screen you must really put some power in to stretch it. Very uncomfortable. Now, I'll be using my fingers mostly, but this is just such a stupid little thing. Another 2cm on that chord and this wouldn't even register.

Debatable... but the option to switch between 12 and 24hr would be nice, not a major grievance though
* The oft mentioned "Suddenly leaving browse mode for play mode". This is annoying, but it is not a bug, it's simply the way the programmers made it
* Can only record to lossy WMA?! That makes all recording (FM, mic, etc) useless for me, since I don't do WMA. Need a WAV-mode. There's no way the hardware wouldn't be able to keep up.
WAV would be better indeed, but the limited flash capacity would be a hurdle to get over, unless they also managed to add point 4
* No file manager with internal <-> SD copy functionality. Just copying selected files to a hard-coded directory on the D2 would be good enough for starters.
We discussed this before, it would be handy, but cannot be done (according to some programmer dude)
* The flexible chord on the stylus-thingy is too short. As a leftie, it's very hard (for me I'd even go with "impossible") to use when attached to the D2, since to click at the left side of the screen you must really put some power in to stretch it. I disagree, the cord easily stretches, so much so that the stylus can poke the reset hole on the opposite side with no difficulty. Also a lo of people just tend to use there fingers, I use the stylus though
just offering a different perspective on your five obvious problems
Why must you argue with me? Can't we just post our grievances here and hope that Cowon tally up the results and do some actual fixing? You're creating controversy where none need exist.
> This is annoying, but it is not a bug, it's simply the way the programmers made it
Groan. Don't be daft. EVERYTHING is simply the result of "the way the programmers made it". You believe changing the view millisections after the player gave me feedback on my input is a design decision? Don't waste my time with silly word games. If it's a concious design desicion, then it's a bug in the design, not the code. Still a bug though.
The idea that you couldn't transfer between the SD and internal flash is a very odd one. The player presumable has some internal (non-flash) memory, so in worst case you'd have to read into memory (we know this can be done, because the D2 can in fact read data from the SD card!), change state to write internal flash, flush buffer there (we know these can be done because the D2 can record and save on its internal flash), and then change back to SD-read mode and repeat until file done (we know this can be done because it's a computer). It might not be convinient, but impossible? I'd be truly amazed. Got a link to the explanation of why this is impossible?
It's not like I'm asking for the moon here. Not having a 24h clock is particularly pathetic since everything about a 12h clock is more complicated to implement (not to mention it wastes screen real-estate)
(PS. I'm also some random "programmer dude", in case that matters)
Edit: Could they be more disingenious in their advertising? Really, I get to "transfer files freely"? I guess in now-we're-just-making-things-up-land, not being able to transfer between the device and the card is a freedom of sorts.
http://klopper.net/~eddy/images/D2_really_transfer_from.png
Though possibly the last entry, "Convinient firmware upgrade", is even more disingenious. "You can upgrade firmware conveniently". I guess it's more "convinient" than "no firmware upgrades" but that's about it. I can't recall a device where it was more inconvinient, but (sadly) I'm sure one exist.
1. yes, this is the way it was designed, I do not like it either, but this design has been kept through 5 firmware updates. It is not a bug, clearly, in the eyes of the developers and I retain the use of the term bug for something that is actually wrong or not working.
1.5 The only one wasting your time is yourself mate.
2.No, I do not have a link, thankfully I am a normal person and do not bookmark all the pages which I may someday have to link back to.
Just to fill you in, this board is not run by cowon, we do not even believe that any of the developers read these boards, if you want something changed you're truly better off contacting cowon.
Anyhoo mate it's great that you do programming, and hopefully you can contribute to the community in some way.
some features to add and fix:
- multi-language dictionary (with Hebrew included)
- text translation (using a virtual keyboard or handwriting recognition)
- abilty to use player while loading
- remove double clicking (annoying like hell)
- built in themes to choose from
- more ways to customize player
- maybe a little greeting while turning on\off the player (whether visual or vocal)
- economy mode (when you have a low battery you can turn on this mode and it will turn off the screen after something like 3-5 seconds and the player itself after 30 seconds, and it wont allow to play video files longer than a specific time etc.)
- more functions on notepad (i.e abilty to stretch lines and draw curvy shapes etc) and "freeze" on screen buttons while in notepad (i draw a line downwards and it hits the "close" buttons)
- mini-photoshop (i.e basic picture editing tools for pictures on the player)
- some pre-loaded games
- complete hebrew support
- clicking on functions brings you to settings (for example:i'm in the radio button and it says a specific region. why can't i clik on the words to go to the region settings)
- load contacts to the player
- auto converting on player (if i load a file in a 640X480 the player will auto convert it to the proper res)
- not delete files after firmware upgrade (it pissed me off completely when it deleted!)
- wide screen mode on video
- some nice polyphonic wakeup sounds (like a cell phone)
- more formats!
- song rating will be nice
- a gym trainer (yep! you put the height, weight and some other stuff and it tells you what to eat and when and how to train. a calory calc will be nice)
- customizing audio settings to the song (in a song with a lot of bass the player will boost the bass)
- recordings in pre-set hours. for example if i know i have a radio show i would like to record so the player will turn on and record the show.
- cancel the idea of "back to the main menu" after you were in a specifc settings menu (for example)
- visualizations when in music (that sucks just to look at the now playing screen)
- customizable menu bar
- playing music\video while in notepad\flash
sorry for length.. can think about a whole lot more...
Well, ain't that a kick in the head.
I was really hoping that the Wolfson chipset had a more flexible equalizer section, but looking at page 60 of the data sheet, I see plainly where the EQ section has exactly 5 bands, with the lowest frequency of band 1 at 80hz, and the highest frequency of band 5 being 11.7KHz.
This, in a word, sucks.
I've done a cursory search for an application that would allow me to apply equalization to MP3 files (sort of like what MP3Gain does), but haven't found one.
Barring that, I guess the only other option is to beg and plead with Cowon to provide a 7 (or more) band software EQ as a feature request.

My only gripe so far about the D2 is the inability to set Folder/File browsing as the default rather than the ID3 based Music Library.
So I want the ability to do so.
Hmm, that's funny. My D2 stays in filetree mode once I've set it.

Hmm. JULE5's Push-to-Hear suggestion is one I would definitely love. Etymotic ER-4s are very very isolating, and getting them seated exactly right takes 10 or 15 seconds... you have to pop one out even after pausing playback to hear someone.
A mixing function perhaps, where when you engaged the microphone, it would lower the music by a customizable playback/mic mix level?
This may be impossible due to a hardware limitation on the player, but if not, it should be trivial to implement turning on the mic...

Hi !
I remember, back in the 80's when sony release their first walkmans, they had an interesting function (in my opinion)...
They had a red (record like) button, called the HOT BUTTON, that when you pressed it, music from cassette was lowered and a built in mic, brought ambient audio into first plane.
So, if someone spoke at you, better than pausing music, you could listen and talk back while continuing to listen to music.
It also had other less obvious functions, like listening to other people's conversation while they tought that you where pumping music into your ears, or even, with a bit of gain, listening farther :)
Anyway... Cowon D2 got the built in mic, amplifier, etc. It is a matter of software to implement yet another function for M button, while the walkman is locked: the HOT SPY BUTTON or whatever :)
Regards,
Enrique
I think, it would be very nice, if they could do a CUE sheets supporting! Because a lot of people like listing music in ape. wv.or flac. Images...so you could listening with out cuting CDImages
and also a wavpack supporting!
The most important ones for me:
- M3u playlist support
- copy sd to internal (deleting files on sd is already possible)
m3u support is a bit absurd to mention, it should have been there from the beginning.
I like this one: (also strange they didn't do it like this from the beginning!!)
- Add a real notepad with the keyboard from the dictionary and rename the current Notepad to Paint
And more strange missing features:
- view pictures on tv (why isn't it supported!?)
-support for higher res/bitrate videos, also for tv out. The system can handle it so why not?
Some of the ideas mentioned here are not very realistic... viewing pdfs etc...
and I don't understand the hype around gapless playback. On my 5yr old Iriver Slim X2 I don't have gapless playback and I never heard gaps between my songs!

- File manager
- when you will switch from wahtever to File browsing (music), it will be nice if browsing will start in MUSIC folder...
...its diadvantage that D2 have not file manager - to deleting everything what i need and removing (or better - renaming! :-) ), copying and so. I partialy understand that copying/removing from SD to D2 or back cold be difficult cos there is music library...but its not that big deal, I guess. So D2 could remember that you did "need re-check" operations, so you can see files only in file browser, not tag browser and on restart D2 will build new library.
(moved from SDHC thread, and sorry for my english ;-))
BTW SIGMAX "HOT BUTTON, that when you pressed it, music from cassette was lowered and a built in mic, brought ambient audio into first plane."
- This would be pretty cool function! :-)

1) Support higher resolution video ffs!!! <-- This above all else - why must we waste half of our lives converting perfectly good video?
2) Allow save function in Flash (implement this, and the sky's the limit as to what the D2 would be capable of, and the next feature wouldn't even be necessary...)
3) Basic text editor ffs (you can save bitmaps, but not plain text? Wtf? Replace the Text Viewer with a freak'n Editor already! Garh!)
4) Gapless playback (To Zilexa: it matters *A LOT* if you're a fan of seamlessly mixed music)
5) Record in wav/mp3! (Wtf uses wma? Does *ANYBODY* use wma? Why Cowon, whyyyyy?!!!)
6) Remove banshee from built-in mic voice recordings
7) Allow listening to music while using Notepad (who's going to use it if it means interrupting your tunes?)
8) Learn what 9 * 9 is (and don't use the basic calculator to help you...)
Having said that, this is the best damn PMP I've ever seen or owned - hands down! We are probably just spoilt (except for point #1!)...

- ID3-Tag "Genre" dependent EQ-Settings
welberger
11-23-2007, 08:31
Using FW 2.51 I think the player is quite ok. Nonetheless a few things could be fixed:
1. The Resume Function should resume when starting the player.
2. No double clicks to get into the menus.
3. A setting to either browse by ID3 Tags or by directory structure.
4. Being able to handle files like a file browser can handle them (copy, move, delete ...)
5. Volume control via touchscreen.
And there is one thing I really like to have in my settings menu:
1. A setting to block loading the player by the USB port - I think this could improve battery life. As far as I know the li-io batteries get weaker after a number of loading sessions. So I always have a bad feeling when I connect my D2 to the PC just to load a few new songs or movies - which happens quite often.
But still I'm glad I bought this device - every time I get connected to it [biggrin]
... and I would buy it again - one reason for this is this really active community around the D2.[thumbsup]

Surprised I'm the only one requesting this - to me its an obvious missing function:
Alarm clock:
Allow me to specify settings that it wakes me up with so I dont have to remember each night to reset it to the quiet gentle wake up I want.
When setting the alarm let me specify:
* Wake up volume
* A playlist / album / etc to start when playback starts for the alarm
[...]
I don't understand why this hasn't been implemented yet. For me, this seems essential to make the alarm clock function really useful. The reason is, one might want to listen with low volumen when going to bed, but want to be woken up in the morning by a special "wakeup track" at high volume [wink].
I'm waiting for this since I bought my iriver ifp-799 about 3 years ago ...
Apart from that:
* Multiple saveable (dynamic) playlists
* Reordering of files in playlists and folders (by drag and drop?)
* A quicksearch function (like "jump to file" in winamp)
I do not yet own a D2, but intend to buy one next week. So more wishes next week [wink].
if it is possible I want to Radio Display System in my D2's radio next firmware..Is it technically possible?

Well to me these are the most important issues that Cowon should address in the next firmware.
- Playlist support, through JetAudio or maybe .m3u support (that would be the easiest way for Cowon to implement, and the easiest way for the consumers to use) without the dreadful 400 song limit.
- Speaking of song limit, the 5000 files and 500 folders limit is ridiculous. I have never seem such limit on another DAP.
- Let's not forget the on-the-go playlist support too. DPL is, well, Dynamic. I want to create and save as many playlist as I wish and not having to use a computer for that.
- Raise the video resolution support to 640x480px (come on Cowon, we know that D2 can handle it). Then, the TV output would be raised to 640x480px as well.
- Why D2 can't output TV signal when in photo, music, and radio mode? It's just not obvious.
- Implement an alphabetical search and a an alphabetical keypad. It's just as obvious too. D2 has a touchscreen, for cryssake.
- Auto-resume play when turned on. Three (four if you count the power button) touches to play music is just too much. I mean, even my cheap OEM mp3 player from China can do that...
- You can't play albums from the same artist in the right order. When one album is finished, D2 starts to play it again. Why is that? All my albums are named in cronological order, and I want D2 to play them in this order! That's just not logical.
- Search albums through album art.
Man, i think these issues are pretty easy to address. Some of them are pretty basic.
Maybe I should email Cowon...
Ohh i know the fm chip but i want to say "what brand fm chip?".and is this chip support rds?

AAC was supported on firmware 2.20/2.21 (you had to rename .m4a files to .aac)... no one knows why they ditched it again.
i think it could be very great if d2 could do usb host for some file types (like images)
USB host would require new hardware, so no can do. [no]
i think it could be great if there will be an option that shutdown the tags libary (searching by artist,album..)it could make the d2 faster for users that dont use searching by tag.

u can slow down play speed to 50%, is that what you mean? it's in the jet effect menu.
no,it mean control the tempo without touching the pitch.

Support for common picture files and progressed jpg, deleting pictures, no stop audio when you'll open thet notebook tool, support for .pdf .doc .xls .html....also support for flash video...and flash skins for 2.** firmwares...

I can't get the artist, album name to show up in the play screen. Also the artist name and song name do not show up when browsing the library by tags. Browsing by file name is ok. Maybe I have them encoded wrong? I have firmware 2.50
Cheers
pdf files support could be awesome .i saw that my friend read on his cellular phone his study stuff ,and i got a lot of pdf files that i want to read and i jealous at him .cowon - pdf files support please

My top requests that seem like they would be realistic to implement would be m3u. playlist support, the ability to delete videos directly from the player, and resume the playback of whatever was playing when the player is turned back on without having to access the on screen menus.

I'm not sure if this was requested before:
It would be nice to link EQ settings to the id3-genre. E.g. in the EQ or presets menu there could be an option "link to id3-genre" with a new page with a list of (common) id3-genres to select. This feature would make a kind of automatic EQ selection according to the kind of music you listen to - and one would not have to always manually select the EQ when switching the music style.
========
And of course, other basic mp3/music related issues should have a higher priority compared to gimmicks like inventing flash features or a dictionary. Not that you understand me wrong: I like those gimmicks, they can improve usability and could even make the D2 attractive to ipod users (!)
But the D2 is in first place a portable multimedia player with a hardware bringing it to the top of hifi media players, isn't it!?! Stupid open issues like ogg-sorting or gapless playing are much more important to "audiophiles" than those gimmicks. If I would have wanted gimmicks, I would have bought an ipod, not a D2 [wink]
Having a D2 with such basic issues is like having a Ferrari with wheels of a Volkswagen Beetle - you can drive somehow but you can't use the full potential of the hardware (and the enginers are changing the color of the interieur to make it more attractive to women - instead of redesigning the wheels [wacko]). Well to me these are the most important issues that Cowon should address in the next firmware.
- You can't play albums from the same artist in the right order. When one album is finished, D2 starts to play it again. Why is that? All my albums are named in cronological order, and I want D2 to play them in this order! That's just not logical.
Sure you can - this is basically the only way I listen to my music!
Just make sure that your album folders are numbered in the order that you want them to play (i.e. 01 - Rush, 02 - Fly by Night, 03 - Caress of Steel, etc. inside your Rush folder for example).
Then make sure you set it to play "All" instead of "Folder" or "1" as at the end of the last song in that album folder it will jump to the first song in the next album folder (i.e. it will jump from "08 Working Man" to "01 Anthem" when you set Boundary to "All" when playing songs from Rush\01 - Rush to Rush\02 - Fly by Night).
I use this in folder view, not tag mode as I am still using Firmware V2.20, but it works fantastically!
Matt
My Brother does a similar thing with his music collection, except he prepends the album name with the year of release.
I really want a feature that will enable me to add music files to the dpl and change the order of their playing without having to delete files.
another "wish" (not that important to me as the previous) i have is to be able to add more than one file at a time (like control button in windows) instead of adding each song at a time (in case i don't want all the folder).
thx
i know know that the d2 still doesn't have text editor, but if he will had it could be nice if he had calendar.like the iriver w7.
or maybe sync from programs like microsoft outlook like the creative zen does.
i wish the d2 got opportunity to copy files from the external card and back,
on that way i could transfer images from friend's or family camera's to my d2.
<-if the d2 will had this opportunity, it could be great to have explorer option- like see all your files like the "aum" player does. -maybe not open them but of course transferring them from folder to folder.
and people start to look ideas for features that other mp players got,its what i doing right now.
i don't get why there is less languages in the 3.xx than 2.xx.
i hope cowon add the same languages in the two versions or gave to the 2.xx the dictionary feature.i know its Korean version but still it got the Eng-Eng dictionary that i use sometime or just play with it.
I only want one thing - gapless playback. Please look into it Cowon!
I only want one thing - gapless playback. Please look into it Cowon!
lol, me too mate me too... doesn't seem to be any manufacturers priority though [no]
I want the "spring" effect customizable... or no "spring" at all.
Spring is the effect of return to music screen after some seconds of no activity.
Higher sampling rates on audio (96/24, for example) would be nice as well. With the D2 vying for position as the penultimate audiophile PMP, as well as its fantastic support and integration of large-capacity SDHC cards, the inclusion of some truly high-quality audio options makes a lot of sense. FLAC can already handle it...
i thought about some feature that maybe other people will want, in my camera you got an option to sent to print - by connecting to printer with usb port.maybe someone will want this option, or maybe instead of image printing, text printing.but again it is not basic feature, just in case if some one will want something like this.
(just thinking about features)
Cowon, fix those horrible SD card issues (unknown tags, empty file names, etc) several people experience with ALL newer firmware versions (x.53). This should be priority number one - NOT implementing some more useless crap toys... that always can be tacked on later, once basic audio and video functions work again as they're supposed to.

Exactly, along with giving the same features to both the 2.xx and 3.xx. Like dfkt said, not just add-ons, but fixing the basic issues of this DAP (i.e.: the SD card and tag issue listed above). This is what needs to be done to have a great firmware release.
i think, an option that will arrange the files inside a folder by their track number could be great.instead to edit it on name all the time.or maybe an option that will give you the option arrange your music at the folders view by parameters.

Are you talking of MP3 files?... Cowon D2 works like you ask... ordered by #track within album per each artist.
Also works so with APE, WMA and FLAC.
Only for OGG files... music is shown alphabetically within albums per artist, which I'm sure will be corrected.
But beware... most problems related with unordered music are due to bad ID3 tag managing.
i know that he can arrange it at view by tags, but i want this opportunity at folder view, and not just alphabetically,i want to choose how i want arrange it at the folder view, and not only alphabetically.
i don't understand why there is no "pal" support.
i want "pal" support at TV out.
But there is? Just go to Settings -} Display -} TV-Out methods, then press up/down for PAL.
i tried it of course but the image is only for ntsc.
i have multi system TV that support both pal and ntsc. but when i try it on tv that support only pal encoding system ,after of course switch it to pal, the video is black and white.
when i switch it to ntsc, its working great.
i really want that the painter could work when music is played, and an option to switch song during this by the upper buttons.
i thinking that an "undo" option at the painter could be great.because all the time i had the straight line that appear every second.
Able to use subfolders, and shuffle them.

hi everybody...
i found this a great idea and it's time for cowon, too improve their players not only in the soundquaity and let the other things forgetting..
i have a few of cowon/iaudio players/pmp by the time until now, and also other dap's from other companys(sony, creative, samsung)
and the only thing i can say: cowon does a few things very good: codec support(important for me), solid units and the best sound on world..
but the other companys don't sleep and make a few things better then cowon:(ogg tag support and fixing!!! on the fly playlist(not only one), id3 browsing and searching.
my wishlist is not so long, because i find the d2 pretty perfect, only the well knowing downsides(fw troubles, sdhc support in one fw ok in other not, fw not for all the same(amerika, korea, europe) are sadly:-(
1. i wish they fix the flac,[B]ogg, wma tag problem instantly!!! this is a problem for about 4 years now!!! c'ommon cowon, you can do it!!!
2. more playlist or with subfolders, so i can sort and choice what i wan't to hear..
3. search by a keyboard too find an artist with a, or a song that beginns with d...
4.and thing i don't understand absolutly not: why they let the d2 in cage??? he has mor power in his little body then all others pmp in this size, but cowon cut the videoresolution too 320*240 and other things that i read here in the forum.
why? only too take the same chip in the d3, and let him then doing his thing 100% and with full power???
that's all folks!!!:jamming:

better sound
more flexible EQ
probably cowon wouldn't make pdf support because they will have buy the license for it,but i know that cowon have a program that called "csd mtrans"
that convert document files like "word" and "pdf" to "csd" format, probably it's for the q5 or something like this.but i checked it and it's on nice quality.
"csd" file support would be more realistic and i hope they will add it to newer firmwares.
Hi all,
MPC (musepack) support please, (mp3 is already old and obsolete, ape, flac is good but big and ogg is good but mpc is better and smaller).
Musepack is also less exacting on battery and is quicker at encoding from audio CD or other lossless (ape, flac, etc..) and primarily is very high-quality and minimally lossy!
I don't understand well English, but am specialist in field of audio and may I give to any comparison MP3 vs. OGG vs. MPC.
Sorry my english...

I support this request... MPC is an excellent format. Unfortunately it seems that no other PMP is supporting MPC.
Kraken... I would like to know about those comparison you mentioned.
The Cowon Q5W supports MPC, and all Rockboxed players... dunno why/how Cowon did it with the Q5W. I always thought there's a legal dispute around Musepack, being based and/or reverse-engineered from some copyrighted codec (similar to the LAME dispute)... maybe that issue has cleared up in the meantime?

ahaha, I didn't try with the stylus, but painting with the finger is really impossible.
I was thinking in a option to TEXT, like a scrollbar, because medium to big texts is very boring to search tapping, even with the 'goto line'. The Scrollbar would be the solution I think.

i wish that the dictionary pronounce will be by tts (text-to-speech) program and not just saved audio.not all the word are pronounced and there a lot of word and names the dictionary doesn't have.the pronounce option take 400 MB and if it will be by tts program it will take less then a 40 MB (maybe even much less).

NEW FEATURES
- Add an Auto Play button (works like resume except it immediately starts playing where you last left off instead of starting up on PAUSE everytime). This would be useful b/c I listen to audiobooks in my car and I don't want to have to handle the device once I turn it on while I'm driving
-Save the Sleep setting (right now I have to reset it each time I turn on the device). I have long commute to work so I don't want to lose battery power if I forget to turn off the device once I get into work.
-Have the ability to choose the sorting of the songs. Right now it sorts by song title. I'd like it to sort by Artist, then Album, then Song title, but it would be better as a choice as some people might want to sort differently.
-Ability to play at the folder level instead of having to drill down and select a song.
BUG FIXES:
When I upgraded to version 2.54 it no longer played protected WMA files that I download from my library through Overdrive. I get a License Expired message everytime I try to play one. It works it 2.51, which is the version I'm at now.
An option to search word or sentence inside a text could be great.
java support could be awesome ,because it's a self platform - it's mean we could find and people could make a lot of programs or games.
If I dream:
internet browser
phone
music player(nice joke, want it???...I suck)
for real:
yea, a suport for java would be nice
flash skin for the whole interface (video, menus etc.)
some kind of music program, u know like at some of the sony ericsson phones...
Anyways, does anyone know when the next fw is commin and what it will contain?
Suggestions for v4.53 8GB DAB :
1. FLASH THEME SUPPORT, (FUTURE TO INCLUDE:- FLASH APPS, HTML VIEWER, GAMES)
2. GAPLESS PLAYBACK! hear its being done.
3. REPLACE THE SCI-FI CALC FOR A VOX RECORDING FEATURE!!!
(great for surveillance & Amateur Radio Recording, saves on disc space!)
4. ONE TOUCH INSTEAD OF TWO to execute files and navigating.
5. PICTURES: NAVIGATION GRAPHICS TO SWITCH TO FULL SCREEN FASTER, IN 1 SECOND NOT 5/7!!! (pics appear instantly ok)
6. PICTURES: when I rotate an image then ZOOM it stays rotated!!
7. CHANGEABLE BIT RATE IN DAB RECORD MODE!
8. FASTER BOOTUP WITH SD CARD INSTALLED
9. SOME dB (decibel) readout Meters same as used but has micro thin graphic with a thin Levels guide from -70.0 dBs to 0.0 dBs that shows just under the moving LED type bar meters.
10. TEXT TYPING EDITING APP. COMBINED WITH THE DICTIONARY APP
11. MOVE FILES, FOLDERS, TO OTHER SD CARDS AND VICE VERSA
12. "SD-WIFI-CARD" COMPATABILITY alternative backing up not web browsing
(The Nokia N95 now streams .m3u .pls mp3s audio streams very well using Nokias Free! "Nokia Internet Radio" app, and is an excellent wireless websurfing gadget that I use to stream 128k Audio live off the net and record it to line in on D2! it sounds great! better than listening through N95! they work realy well together especialy when you need a password from the D2 to help surfing on the N95.
13. DAB RADIO BBC STATIONS DROP OUT AND REAPPEAR WEAKER THAN TERRESTRIAL SIGNALS. (may incoperate switchable sensitivity DX (long distance) & Local.
14. UTILITIES, NOTEPAD, extra features Typing Fonts, Change font colours, resize fonts, shapes, crop, draw : squares, circles. Flood fill colour, import image clips to notepad.
Make flyers on the move like the Nokia N95.
15. RECORDING TO LINE-IN AND CHARGING WITHOUT DEFAULTING TO HARD DISC!! STOPPING THE RECORDING DEAD IN ITS TRACKS! May need a hardware mod using a Mini USB convertor that carrys just the power & not the PC data exchange connectors inside the usb lead. that'll do for now.

Auto-Play would be fine but just in case you don't know this trick:After startup, press the "M" button once short and then long - and your D2 is playing without using the touchscreen at all.
1. FLASH THEME SUPPORT, (FUTURE TO INCLUDE:- FLASH APPS, HTML VIEWER, GAMES)
Flash apps and games are not supported by the 4.xx FWs???
5. PICTURES: SWITCH TO FULL SCREEN IN 1SECOND NOT 10!!!
If it takes you really 10s, I guess you use VERY huge files to display on the tiny 320x240 display. At least, my 6Mpx (3072 x 2048) images are displayed within 2-3s which is acceptable to me...
The bigger an image is, the more the D2 has to calculate to scale ist down. If you need all the details in your images, you have to live with the speed. If not, resize your images to e.g 2 Mpx (1.600 x 1.200) and you will get a fast image display while still being able to zoom in a bit.
Up to my knowledge, the D2 has the fastest processor available for such devices. For your request (and some others too) you simply need more processor speed. You most likely have to wait for the D3 or the D4 to get what you want.
EDIT: many speed related issues in FW x.53 were fixed with FW x.54 - you may also try to update your FW, you are using FW 4.53... [wink]
=======
Just to bring the demands down to wishes which do not require hardware upgrades but could be soved only by firmware upgrades (which is somehow the topic in this subforum). Sorry, if I repeat myself (and others):
full ogg-tag support
gapless playing
automatical adjustment of defineable sound settings (EQ and JetEffects) to the music style. This very nice feature could be realized by reading the genre tag. There could be a menu entry in the sound settings menu to link a certain sound-preset to one id3-genre. By this, one could listen to a mix of different music styles always with the optimal sound settings. [yes]
Cheers

it will be a major breakthrough not only to the D2, not only Cowon, but to the entire MP3/4/PMP's industry we know of.
and off cores there is also my other wish list (order by my prioraty):
1)PDF - so my pleyer will save me A LOT of peiper and inc (printing)
2)HTML/JAVA/ASP - then I'll be abule to create some nice tsuff to the pleyer.
3)DOC - save the styely loses whan converting to TXT file.
3)XLS, PPS - alwys nice to have :)
and tow jetAudio adition -> the ubelety to dyjest the the converting such as resize the imeg (if its smaller then 320*240 - resise it to "fit to scren")
ubelety to controle the freim root, 30/25/20/17/15/12 - save file size and batery life whan pleying).
after all of the above will be soportev, then i'll be one happy man who cerying only hes D2, insat pile of hevy paiper, and usles guget.

@ka05com
I guess you are mixing flash "skins" and flash "apps/games". At least my D2 with FW 2.54 offers the flash player functionality in the "Utilities" menu, enabling me to run flash apps and games without any problem. The flash "skin" funtionality is restricted to FW 3.xx.
I also think that you may not be aware of the difference between "themes" and "skins". "Themes" are available for any FW, flash "skins" not. Have a look to the "D2 Themes, Hacks And Anything Flash" subforum, especially the Finished Themes Only (http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14856) thread.

-File management - copying, renaming, deleting.
-A text editor.
-Shared Objects support (for Flash).
-fscommands for bookmarking, playlists, jeteffect, etc (the bits from the music player that cannot currently be accessed when using Flash).
-Resume audio when turned on with no extra presses.
-Improve the notepad (paint program).

- tv-out for pictures too!! and maybe txt files? if you could turn on tv-out while listening music you would have line-out for headamps!!
- better tv-out pal support
- in-song A-B repeating part of track should be able to export to new file. I would be able to create ringtones for mobile :D
- skin changer in the preference menu on the device
- others audiobooks. I can't get registered on audible cause of no credit card :(

That would be quite useless currently because when you switch the tv-out button while playing video, you cannot access the D2 unless you go back into D2 in which the tv-out will be gone. AKA the current problem is not being able to fastfoward etc on the D2 while playing on the TV.
