This (http://handbrake.m0k.org/), apparently

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 converter, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.

Never heard of it either.

Right forum, Don. I've heard good things about Handbrake as a general DVD -> AVI encoder.

Er...okay, not nit-picking, but if it's software, there's a subforum for that...so unless this is D2 specific the thread probably should be relocated somewhere more general.

Thanks for introducing Handbrake in this thread, I'm loving it!

Attached is a profile I made for the D2 at 512kbps video, 128kbps audio.
I didn't bother with advanced settings, this is just a quickie profile that
I'll be using to make my own videos. Works like a charm! [smile]

Who would believe that the iPod would be good for something? [biggrin]

I say this because Handbrake originally rose to prominence as an app to convert video for the iPod 5G.

The iPod has generally the most hassle-hating people who just want to do stuff so apps that rise to the top of their consciousness tend to be the best to use. Other players have more geeks who don't worry as much about usability so they tend to make do with inferior-to-use apps as long as it can be tweaked.

Change one setting in your profile and it will be perfect. In the height and width settings, set width to 320 and leave Height blanc. That will make it keep aspect ratio as default on the DVD.

I use Handbrake 0.9.1 and I am very interested in the settings you used. However I cannot open your link. Can you help me out in another way?
