There's also a video at the bottom of the article but it takes a really long time to buffer/download. I haven't seen it yet.

This is so awesome... Can't wait until it comes to the USA.

MMM notice the back of the q5 says 30GB? WTF

we were lead to believe 40gb and 60gb models?

Maybe that was a pre-production model?

I'm also disappointed that such an expensive unit doesn't even come with even a cheap sleeve or carry case to protect it when travelling :-(

Here is the same pix that we have seen BUT at the bottom, there is a video (http://clien.career.co.kr/zboard/view.php?id=use&page=1&sn1=&divpage=2&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=6910). It is about 8:54 long. The video downloads really slow and I cannot get it to run at a viewable speed. Anybody have better luck?

Really, thanks we are so desperate to see it action.

One thing that I did notice, which I don't really understand is that there is a Mouse Arrow controlling, so is this actually a video of the Q5 or just an emulated version of the GUI on a PC?

omjeremy
05-27-2007, 17:22
I couldn't wait any longer so I downloaded it myself. Took me 45minutes to download on a 20megabit connection... ahh the slow old days...

Here's the link (I like dailymotion better than youtube): http://www.dailymotion.com/omjeremy/video/3524717

Id like to know what sound chip they used in this device, anyone know?

Hess
05-29-2007, 13:32
Thank you very much, the top link says something along the lines of a problem with encoding the second video is very nice, but as someone said, not sure about the clicking sound when selecting things, but that should have an option to turn on or off, so no worries.

The third one is a cool addition, something we've not seen yet, but not overly interesting. But does look like it might be part of a set, with lots of different videos, so if you find the rest of a set, please please show us :)

http://www.dailymotion.com/omjeremy/video/3552915 (Video referenced above - shows great overview of the Q5)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=o0dGbVMhr9g (Cowon Van - had to reupload onto YouTube... DailyMotion didn't work. Shows various usage including GPS. GPS is built in! Unsure if this feature will be in the America/Europe version.)

^ v true. why not film menus and such, options and settings. call me boring but these are as important to me; to get an idea of what is available.

i guess people like filming movies playing. i still cant get over that lil pause when one skips through a vid. does this happen with the A2?

Hess
05-30-2007, 04:35
Yeah it does a little bit, gotta catch up. The thing that worried me most was the loading time for photos on the Q5, in one of the videos, it shows someone on the photos menu and it takes longer than a film to display.

^ i hope so. taking a look at another video the web brownsing feature is laggy. it would do my head in.

ive noticed all the videos shown on the Q5 fit perfectly on the screen, is this because the Q5 auto fits the video? i hope there is a option for it to keep the origional aspect ratio of a video even if there are black bars on either sides of the screen.

omjeremy
05-30-2007, 10:09
Yeah, everything in Windows CE is laggy! Try out the emulator and see. Even on a fast modern computer nothing is really smooth. It's just the software. Perhaps Version 6.0 would be better.

There is an option for changing the aspect ratio. I'm pretty sure that's what's going on in this video: http://www.dailymotion.com/omjeremy/video/3524717

OP @ http://board.cowon.com/zeroboard/zboard.php?id=C50&no=10652&bmenu=C&category=#

Surely you dont need that GPS dock for the GPS to work on the Q5. I would have thought the dock is just to hold the Q5 in, as well as charge it using the car as well as connecting to output speakers/easy to reach buttons etc.??? As for the International builds (uk/us etc) i dont think they will inc GPS function nor the encyclopedia.

Nice PMP!!! I'm so into getting one as well; )

but i wonder will the US version has Wifi Built-in? since there's no need for DMB in the US, wonder if Cowon will make a US/ Eur version which replace the DMB receiver module w/ the 802.11b/G built-in? there'll be a must-buy if this modification applies : )
