View Full Version : Album Art Problems (AAC and v2.21 Firmware)
I got my D2 PMP this week and have so far organised my music collection (all in M4A format, renamed to AAC extension) into 27 folders, 1 for each artists starting with an alphabet letter and 1 for each artist starting with a numeral.
As I haven't had time to sort them into individual artists and get album covers yet, I took note of the instruction to create a cover.jpg (the jpg is just a 128x128 pixel image of a CD with a transparent background) and place it in each folder as a temporary measure (instead of the Cowon logo that shows up next to the song info whilst it is playing). However this does not seem to work for me.
Since my music collection is in M4A/AAC format, I cannot update my firmware to a later version and I am not keen on transcoding some 700 or so songs to MP3 (loss of quality and a time-consuming exercise)
Any ideas? Thanks in advance...
Album art feature is included since 2.41 FW.

According to the change log album art was supported as of v2.20. Unless Cowon took it out in v2.21 (like they did for AAC support as of v2.41?)
My source of info was taken from Cowon global, specifically http://www.cowonglobal.com/zeroboard/zboard.php?id=C08&page=1&sn1=&divpage=1&bmenu=download&category=21&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&bmenu=download&desc=asc&no=258&bmenu=download

Nope i had album art (cover.jpg) in 2.21, which is what my D2 came loaded with.
I was mistake. Album art is in all known FW: 2.20, 2.21, etc.
It will sound strange, but did you try album art in directories with other files? For example: to give the cover.jpg to directory with .MP3s ...
And did you try to use another picture? Maybe your file is corrupted or has a wrong compression(progresive jpg is not supported)
I have attached the cover.jpg file I am trying to use as default album cover.
I used Paint Shop Pro 10.03 to modify it and saved it as a lossless encoding jpeg.
jpgs can't do transparency
those corners will show up white. the best you can do is try to blend it into the background by getting a copy of your wallpaper and layering the CD over that.
time-consuming, but works good if you keep the same wallpaper
EDIT:
I thought I should give an example.
So first of all overlay the disc on your wallpaper image (first image)
then extract the cover section (may take some experimentation to get the location correct)
I ended up getting the 2.21 firmware from Advanced MP3 Players and did the customised artwork picture as described in http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=13664
It works as I wanted it to now... so thanks for the help anyway.
