at the moment the D2 doesent include this. i guess we have to be sensible when listening to higher volume levels.

I don't remember if the D2 was supposed to support it, but "maybe" all that is needed is for the D2 to support ReplayGain (RG). This will allow you to normalize the output levels based on track gain or album gain. My music library is already tagged with ReplayGain to calculate Album Gain.
