So how did you get dust in the screen? If you can, defintely use compressed air. I use it for almost anything, especially electronics.

it just gathered up in there. i'm not sure how though. it's only a pain while trying to use it in direct sunlight while i'm walking.

Hmmm....thtat suprises me. Do you have a plastic case on it or just by itself? im looking at mine and Im thinking dust or dirt got into yours through the mic or headphone jacks. it still have to find its way inside the electronics.

maybe true. I've seen people who have the Sansa's e200 series where they have applied tape inside the DAP close to the USB port and headphone&In-Line recording jack. but that's for advanced users and i am one but i'm not sure how to open the F2 to do such thing and i'm not sure i'm willing to do it anyways. i'm sure dust can get through the tiny edges of the screens. it's possible. well, i'll buy some compressed air and see what i can do. i hope it doesn't mes up the LCD screen. i've tried blowing in through the headphone and and the USB port but the dust doesn't seem to move. i'll try blowing through the mic and see if the dust blows out through the USB port some.

by opening up your player you can't really do any harm other than voiding the warranty. i was fixing a loose headphone jack on my U3 about a week ago (no electronic/soldering experience beforehand) and now it works great, also cleaned up my screen while i was in there.
You can't really damage anything by opening it up haha, i had all the components separated (but still connected) and still had it running to check on the headphone problem to make sure i did a good soldering job
honestly all this entails is unscrewing some screws, remove the outer case, wipe your screen off, and put the case back on. A good idea would be to put some a little piece of tape or something around the screen to collect any dust that goes that way.
try it out

oh really?? hmm, i apologize then, i kind of figured everything would have screws. That's weird. i wonder how you open it up then. my bad for the misunderstanding.

it's alright. the dust doesn't really bother me that much. i'm selling my F2. i'm getting the iAudio 7 so i'm sure the dust problem will go away. does your U3 have dust within the LCD screen?

yes i had dust but it was between the lcd screen and the glass 'cover' that was over it.

your meaning a protector screen or the second layer of the screen? not the LCD but like the middle layer? my F2 has that problem but yet again it doesn't bother me. only bothers me when bright sunlight is around.
Cheers-
