I've got a Sony Cybershot DSC-T1. I agree I can connect, my X5L can see the picture-files on the camera, but it fails to paste back into the X5L.. error is
"db-filefull".
I've upgraded the firmware already, but no luck...
Kodak Easyshare DX6440 is not working. The camera thinks it is connected to a USB host, but when pressing the Record button, the mode does not switch from HOST to device...
Thats kind of stinks... If anyone can get the Kodaks to work, please post the steps you took...

My mistake, i had to change ptp mode i camera to normal USB mode.
I´m a bit confused.
This compatibility issue depends on what? Hardware, software or some protocol? Could these incompatibilities be solved by firmware update?
I´m asking this because I have a Canon A75 and still hoping that I´ll get it eventually speaking to my X5.
if a camera does not work now, chances are that it will never work. don't expect cowon to "fix" it either, the problem is with the cameras themselves usually - being that they use a non-standard communication protocol, which is why they require drivers for your PC..

Maybe some people who tested cardreaders (with multiple slots) can also mention if ALL slots work?
Cause sometimes only the first one works (for example you have a CF, SD & xD card reader and only CF is recognized when attached to the X5).

Anyone know if this works with a Dell Axim X50v (or any other pocket pc)?
It wont work on the X50V with Windows Mobile 2003 SE o/s, but it may work when the Windows Mobile 2005 OS comes out, since that will allow the Pocket PC to act as a mass storage device.
There is a software available for current Pocket PCs that allows you to use storage cards on the Pocket PC as mass storage devices when connected to a host. Never tried it before though. I'll give it a try and let you know.

Actually it comes close to working. When I switch the X5 into USB host mode then the camera switches itself into USB mode, so at least the camera thinks it's doing its part correctly. The X5 is very slow and takes about 2 or 3 minutes to bring up the browser. Clicking and holding down REC has no effect, the X5 never switches from HOST to DEVICE.
Any tips on how to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

It might be a bit of an odd question, but did any of you try/succeeded/failed hooking up an external harddrive
to your X5? You know, an ATA/S-ATA disk connected to a USB interface
I tried hooking up mine but it didn't work. It happened to be partitioned into two separate NTFS partitions. I allready figured the X5 probably couldn't read the NTFS filesystem. I think i will try hooking up a one partition FAT32 disk next and see what it does.. Any thoughts, or experiences on the matter?
Thanks,
Yat

I´m about to by a new phone, and probably will by the Nokia 6230i. According to the specification it does support USB plug n´ play. Scanning trough this list, I don´t see even one cellphone represented though. Does this mean cellphones in general by some reason can´t communicate with the X5, or is it rather that plug n' play on cellphones is such a new feature (I have no clue) that it just haven´t been added to this list yet?

Opposing to an earlier posting X5`s OTG works fine with my Fuji S7000 (even with the original firmware 2.07-e) yippie!!!
I got the following info from Olympus tech support:
"D-560 uses the same protocol as all the Olympus cameras on the COWON list of Supported Devices. USB- OTG will eventually be certified on all Olympus USB interfaces, as soon as the technology proves itself reliable. As for now we do not officially support it."
As soon as my X5 gets here, I will formally validate the Olympus D-560.
I have firmware 2.07e and my IXUS 40 doesn't work, i enter host mode but when i hold rec button down it doesn't switch to device mode...

Kodak DX7440 DOES WORK!
With Firmware 2.10 build 5 it worked like a charm, I just had to hold down record a little longer. A previous user reported that this camera was not supported, but it will work with the current firmware from the iaudio.com site! This is a major plus for me. I'll never have to worry about running out of memory on a vacation.
