View Full Version : Buying something else
Well,
Cowon have just about decided the choice of player for me now.
I live in Lincolnshire (miles from any city) and I ordered an M3L from amazon on 10th Sept. Needless to say, after 3 weeks they decided that they wouldn't have it in stock for ages.
Silly me then decided to go to advancedmp3players, who were due to have the thing in today. Guess what, no player, and it will not be in until next week at the earliest.
So, looks like I will be going down the iRiver route. Main reason being that they can at least ensure the availability of the product. Seems that Cowon are something of a small player after all. A 5-6 week wait for a product is unacceptable. Theoretically in the event of a breakdown and warranty claim I could be waiting for even longer.
The explanation that Korea has loads of holidays simply doesn't wash. A few days I could understand, but 5 weeks! Any chance of a job there??
unhappily,
Stu!
Stewbie, I don't think you can blaim this problem on Cowon since it was Amazon's fault in the first place. As far as I know, they didn't order enough M3's and when demand is higher than supply (well, you do the maths). In Holland (live there :)) there are plenty of M3's in any shop, so it's not Cowon fault.
BTW, why change to a player you prolly won't like, better wait for a bit longer and finally have the thing you want.

Thisis a bit strange. In Germany for e.g. at http://www.mp3-player.de/ there is no such delivery time. But I doubt you are willing to pay 20 Euro for the transport from Germany.
If you really want the best, ie the M3 (and let's face it that's whey we are all here) then waiting a few more days won't hurt. Why don't you check out what is happening from the Cowon Distributor in the UK, MP3 Plus.
Have you tried Tottenham Court Road (London), AskDirect appear to have stock according to thier website, though it doesn't look like they have the M3L.
Keep the faith and hold on 'til next week. Also, AMP usually know their stuff too, so if they say next week then it's a pretty good bet.
Is an IHP-120/140 really gonna be a substitute for your dream of owning an M3?

I don't think it is just Amazon, witness the probs that Advancedmp3players have had as well.
I'm just a bit annoyed, restocking simply shouldn't take as long as it seems to be doing.
I appreciate the comments from others in relation to waiting a bit longer - it's just when I've been waiting for a month anyway :(
Anyway, I'm giving it a go ordering from the EU, see if the renowned German efficiency is better than we seem to be able to manage in the UK.

What is really strange is checking out the website with a view to ordering using babelfish :)
I've almost waited 2 weeks with Amazon. Apparently, they'll be getting stock in tomorrow as they promised me over the phone and should be sending it saturday so I can get it on monday or tuesday :D. But, if I don't get invoiced on saturday to say its dispatched, I will be on the phone nagging them ;).
I'm prepared to wait for this brilliant player. Don't move to something you don't want because you have to wait. As the old saying goes "All those good things come to those who wait". ;)
Ordered my M3 40gb from an ebay retailer in the uk. Ordered friday last week came monday morning, they do next delivery if you order mon-thurs. £260 with p+p

Odd? They don't have the M3 40GB Silver model?
I've been waiting for a month for my order from Amazon. I sent an e-mail (actually the 3rd on) asking if they knew when they would be getting some stock and I was told that they would despatch it this Friday. If not I'm to e-mail them again.
Seems strange that they feel the need to say that if it isn't despatched I should e-mail. Makes me think they doubt they will send it out.
Got my M3L this morning! That wasn't too bad from Germany, but I think if I'd stuck with the advancedmp3player order I would have got it today as well.
Still, principle of the thing and all that :)
Now then, I've zapped the firmware, and I'm letting it charge fully before I start transferring stuff over!!

anyways congratulations ! i think about ordering as well, but in the next days i won't be home when the postman comes, and my parents and pay-on-delivery doesn't seem to be what i want....
