I was wondering if anyone that is into getting the best sound quality possible out of D2 (like me) has had the opportunity to experiment with the enhanced EQ options available in Firmware v 3.45?

If so, could you perhaps give us a brief review as to whether it allows you "improve" the sound to your liking more? (I know, its your opinion and subjective, but thats fine - give us your opinion).

Also, if you have any tips as to how to make the best use of these EQ enhancements, that would be great!

Any comments from people who have experimented with the enhanced EQ would be appreciated. Most of what I saw posted so far went something like "Enhanced EQ options look nice, but I don't know how to use them."

Hm. Seems like there should be a tutorial on this somewhere. ??[smile]

One thing I liked about it that I was able to enchance the 145Hz bass. That bass isn't too low, but doesn't make the sound muddy. Well I cant really express.
I wonder while you can't have all frequency bands active. You can only select 5 of them. It would be better if all the frequency bands could be active at the same moment...

i think the eq really has to do with 1 headphones you have, 2 music, 3 preference?, sadly the music part changes a lot hehe

I wonder while you can't have all frequency bands active. You can only select 5 of them. Because of DAC used in D2 - it has 5-band EQ. So, number of EQ bands is a hardware limit, not software.

it's a bit useless as it is, to be honest. what i want (and what a lot of people want) is to be able to boost bass in the 30-60hz region without using any of the jet effects rubbish. as it is the rest of the bands are place well enough that you dont have to mess with them anyway.

The new EQ options/settings do make a difference with sound tweaking:

The top part of the pic in the OP that shows the EQ is describing the adjustment that can be made to an individual EQ frequency range, each Band gives the option to adjust between 4 Frequencies e.g. Band 1 allows 80, 105, 135 and 175Hz thus enabling a more customizable frequency response. So if there’s a need to up or down a certain instrument/sound/range then it is easier to do so, and certain frEQs can be moved closer together by changing these settings. It has helped me clean up some crowd noise on live albums and therefore giving a better sound IMHO :)

As far as the band options (lower pic) from what I can hear in the sound is that with the band selected to on (Band 2,3,4) it seems to adjust all the frequencies in the listed range width e.g. Band 3 alters from 650Hz - 1.4kHz with it turned off the adjustment is only made on an individual frEQ e.g. 650, 850, 1.1 or 1.4 It appears to me that using the Band options with specific track related frEQs that im able to enhance or reduce the sound a bit more, this works well with live albums as from what I have been getting is a broader reduction in crowd noise and when adding some modest jeteffects and EQ enhancements it does seem to increase the whole liveliness of the sound (reducing clutter).

All in all I think that the jeteffects will be better served with the extra frEQ bandwidth I find they sound better than they did previously and I recon the D2 does give better sound variation as a result of this addition, not that it sounded bad previously IMHO, a 7 or 9 band EQ would have been nice but the current arrangement does the job nicely :)
