a newb question here. wanna ask whether installing a newer firmware will help you install the previous firmware also. for example, does installing the 3.45b firmware help you to update the 2.41 firmware and stuff?

don't really understand your question...but installing 3.45b firmware won't do anything bad for your cowon. it won't help you to update firmware as such because for each firmware update, you are in effect reloading the whole firmware rather than little bits of it. you should have a look at the thread above to see whether you really want to use the 3.45 beta firmware, 3.41 or the 2.41 firmware. have fun!

Are you asking whether you have to install every firmware in turn or can you just update to the latest one.

If so the answer is yes you just update to the latest one and all the features from the previous ones are implamented

3.45b installed will give you the most up to date version of the D2 firmware, but remember, its a beta and not a final release.

oh. so all the features in the previous firmware will also be updated on my player after i install 3.45b?

yes thats right, as well as a few extras like the notepad for example.

Point to note, firmware prior to 2.41 had aac support, but that was removed for some yet unknown reason.

Point to note, firmware prior to 2.41 had aac support, but that was removed for some yet unknown reason.
Hopefully some experienced firmware modders can take a look at the prior versions and perhaps restore the features that have been removed in later versions. Perhaps add support for other codecs too while they're at it, who knows what's possible? :)
