Hi all,

First post.

Thinking of getting one of these when they are released.

Can anybody confirm that the X5 will have Line-out?
By this, I mean a true line-out with no signal processing whatsoever.

(I understand the iriver H3xx is not a true line-out for example, and it's ugly as hell so it can't sit in my living room being a sexy little jukebox, or I'd have that already).

Cheers.

I thought the H3xx had a proper line out, why not?

Good question btw. Yep it has line out:

I'm pretty sure that neither of them have true line-out

Then what's the bloody point in it?

A line out on from a reciever takes the turntable signal and sends it out. On a mo3 player the signal is already processed. It is in a digital form straight from your computer soooooooo the only way to get the sound with out signal processing is to have an out put jact right off the reciever of your stereo.

Sorry I'm confused. The line out on a portable CD player is a true line out. What's the difference?

I believe that from a portable cd player it takes the signal and channels it through the out put jack with no compression in mp3, flac, ogg or any format. On an mp3 player you have to process the audio with compression before you transfer it to the player. So the finished file that resides on the player is ....processed and can never be a true unprocessed out put.

I see thanks for clearing that up. You'd think they would disable the EQ, BBE, Volume from working and the like though.

So if the line out adds digital processing then why bother with it? Surely it is exactly the same as the headphone jack?

Surely there are some differences?

The line out has no bass to speak of.

Please be more precise?

From my line-out tests on the X5, the line-out function simply outputs the audio without any additional signal processing (volume, BBE, Mach3Bass, 3D, Panning). Comparably, the headphone jack (obviously) outputs with the additional signal processing.

Well, when using the cradle the line-out is neat but other than that I don't find much joy in having it.

And the EQ settings do apply to the line-out as well.

Is there a setting somewhere people are missing? As I hear just as many people say the line out adds no effects/volume as people who say it does.

Such as this:

It goes against what is said here.
