Hey guys, like alot of us, though i am not totally under a budget, i don't see myself spending 100+ dollars on earphones in the near future. I went around and looked for the cheapest yet best earphones I could find in US RETAIL Stores.
I started off with the zune premiums earphones:
these are great and deliver a great bass, but it doesn't deliver every sound in my music that i want to hear. it's also near the $40/50 range. and also just the fact that im degrading my d2 by using zune earphones makes me sad :-p

you can get these pretty much anywhere, especially online for cheap.

right now i am on some PHILLIPS HE592. these earphones are cheap! I found them at target for only $19.99. Unfortuanetly I am not a fan of earphones that are meant to go INTO your ear; but I gave this one a try. The whole virtual surround sound is amazing, and its nice to understand how they are trying to make the illusion. It may not be for everyone, but when i put them in correctly (my left ear has trouble fitting it) it sounds like the music is litterally in my head.

i will keep trying to post with more earphones, and if you guys have quick and easy reviews on some go ahead :)

The Shure e2c can be had for about $60 USD.

I liked mine, but the wires have a known problem in that they turn into plastic when reacting with the oils from the user's skin and it cracks. I need to get another pair now.

I read that the Koss KSC75 are some great earphones for the price. I can't say from my own experience but I was planning to try them out myself in the near future. On newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106720

In all honesty it really is a good investment to get better headphones, the ones that'll cost you over $100 have better cabling and just sound that much better...I've had cheap headphones, mid ranged headphones and now I currently have a pair of Shure E3G's, that ran me about 150 CDN after shipping....honestly I would not go back. Only thing is I also take extra care of my headphones, so I'll put them back in the case if i'm not listening to it....a bit of a hassle but why would you risk your investment like that? =p

Good choice of headphones <100$ is also Etymotic ER-6 or ER-6i, which cost about 75$ at ebay, but I recommend pay additional 10$ or 20$ and buy Shure SE210 or Shure E3C... [thumbsup]

edit: Shure E3G cost 99.95$(at ebay), thus also <100$ [yes]

Yeah I recall them being about that price, but then you pay for shipping and they're a bit more after. I was originally gonna get the Etymotic ER-6i's, but after doing a bit of research the main thing that deterred me was the fact that the wires are quite thin, making them delicate and prone to wind/walk noise (i.e. if wind blows past the cable, that noise will be transmitted through the wires to the headphones, same with walking as it "scrapes" up and down), so I decided to spend a little more money and get the E3Gs.....and I also picked those up over the E3C's because I heard that they have better bass, and they do have a very nice sound, but I can't compare to the E3C's so I'll just leave it at that.

Are V-moda Vibes and CM7ti any good?
How do they compare to other good earphones and what should I get?
I've never had earphones over $20.

When IEMs are out of the question you might want to consider Sennheiser PX100, the foldable Koss or even Grados? The iGrados or SR60es are really good deals.
I have the PX100's and I like them a lot. I find them and the perhaps even more the Grado SR60es almost a bargain.

Meh, I hate in your ear type earphones. Sennheiser PX100 sound great and are less than $100.

I just got a pair of PX100s and I have to say, in my opinion the hype is true - they sound awesome. Granted, I'm not really an audiophile, so what I'm comparing them to my assorted collection of bundled earbuds and the $5-20 headphones I've accumulated. Since I'm on the go every day, the case is also sweet - they fold up and store very easily. $50 well spent, no regrets at all. [thumbsup]

yeah I bought my dad a pair of PX100's, and tried them out for a few and they're really amazing. They look OKAY but they feel and sound awesome. Highly recommended!

I got a set of Skullcandy Ink'd earbuds from FYE (For Your Entertainment) on sale for only $10 (from $30). I liked them so much, I went back and picked up a second set in a different color. FYE has a huge sale on Skullcandy headphones in all different shapes and sizes so I recommend checking them out. To top it off, all SkullCandy's have a limited lifetime warranty.

I decided on getting a set of e3g's to replace my e2c's. The g is identical to the c ;) and costs less. I'm getting mine for about $113 plus shipping.

I, on the other hand, can say from my own experience. These headphones are wonderful, I've been using them for a bit over a year now. Excellent sound in all ranges (my experience, and the general concensus from when I did my research before buying them...and I do a lot of research before I buy stuff like this), low cost, well made and they dont even feel like they are there. I'd say looking at it from cost/performance ratio angle, these are pretty much at the top.

I ordered ATH-CM7Ti for $150. It'll arrive 2 days from now. Has anyone here tried this earphone before? It got some good reviews from Koreans.

One more vote for Sennheiser PX100s (or 200s, if you don't need to hear the traffic about to run you over). The PMX100s are OK too, and stay on better than the headband type.

IMO they do degrade over time though .. a new pair always sounds nicer. 8>.

You should check out head-fi.org. It's a great resource and basically answers every one of your questions and then some regarding headphones/iems/amps.

Although I've never tried any of these myself, the best bang for your buck type earphones are the Koss KSC-75 and if you are willing to spend a little more, the V Moda Vibes. Beyond that, it really depends on what you want to prioritize.
