View Full Version : Line-in problems
Hey, just want to check if there is anyone else than me that has problem with the line-in function?
I get "leakage" over the channels, meaning I "overhear" the left channel in right ear, even if I completely disconnect the left channel from the source.....this really messes up the "stereoimage", recordings almost sounds as if they were in mono. Has anyone else tried this? or could it be my line-in adapter?
// Tompa
No one has used line-in in the whole wide-D2-world ????

Yes! But I have not tested your problem yet, will do it tonight.
(Tack, det vore schysst),
please do so, maybe it can be some kind of impedance problem, (need to keep the cables short?) will try and test with shorter cable.
he he, I tried with a self-made short cable, and then it works, seems like the line-in interface is EXTREMELY sensitive for cables [thumbdwn].
Please check these files if you're interested to compare recordings with the "normal" and the short cable:

rec2 (http://mr-almighty.741.com/short_cable.mp3)
EDIT: link fixed....

Your links does not work or rather they work but only if you right click and choose "save as". I tried on my D2 just now and it seems almost like the D2 is doing it to an mono signal if only one side is connected or have sound? Really strange.

Ok I have looked at the files with soundforge and the file recorded with the long cable is in mono. It is a mix of left and right channel equally strong in both channels. Check to see if that cable isn't brooken in someway. (Shortcircuit between Left and right)
Yup, I have checked the cables some more, and it looks like the problem lies in the adapter, the contact for the 3.5mm male stereoplug is not optimal in the female adapter, when the contact is "loose" You lose the stereo image, but if You jerk it abit, it suddenly may work.....sigh,
anyway... Tonight at home I managed to get it to work with a cable with a more expensive connector, so maybe I try and take the adapter back to the shop to exchange it, it shouldn't be that sensitive to the male 3.5mm plug, and as You said blackroom, it's strange that it turns mono when one channel is "missing"
Hello again, need to share this with You guys.....at last I found out about my line-in problem, by coincidence I discovered at the very bottom of Settings > Recordings , that "external mic" was "on", I just disabled that and now line-in recording works like a charm [thumbsup]
This explains my troubles and why it was intermittent and sometimes worked with a short cable....it's really easy to miss this setting if You don't know about it cause, as I said, You have to scroll to the very bottom to find it and it's "ON" by default, it should really be "OFF" by default, at least what I think....
...anyway...greets from a (at last) very happy [biggrin] D2 owner....

Wow there is a line in!? I didn't even know that. I assume you plug the cord into the headset jack and go into settings to set it to line in??

Nope, You need a "line-in" adapter, it uses the mini-USB connector (same as the charger do)
