New to SDHC cards

I just got an SDHC transcend 4gb and put it in my D2 and transferred songs and aside from having a few errors in the id3 browsing (multiple artist or albums) it is working fine. Was i sapposed to format it? It was brand new. Also anyway of fixing these browsing errors. I checked the tags and they are fine. I feel like it makes these browsing errors for albums only on the SDHC card. I use mac osx
