I just use it for burning DVDs and CDs and video editing so im pretty sure I can reencode mp3s on it because Im having that "fast encoding" problem with songs above 192kbs on my Cowon a2 is anyone familiar with Nero or any other program to reencode my mp3s that are Jerky on my cowon a2.

i use MediaMonkey to convert songs if needed. I use Nero wave edittor sometimes and save to mp3Pro. it's either Lame or mp3Pro for me, so i don't use the normal mp3 encoder of Nero which is a FHG encoder.

i suggest you use mediamonkey

+1 on mssx (as usual LOL)

klepto: it doesn't really matter which PROGRAM you use to encode / transcode MP3. Just pick one that gives the option to use (and configure) LAME.
There are many, many programs out there that allow this - Mediamonkey certainly (preferred) but also MP3 Workshop, Exact Audio Copy, foobar...

The ENCODER settings are what matters. You cannot use the -new (or --fast) switch.

As a sidenote, be aware that if you transcode a lossy format (such as MP3) to another, you will always lose quality.
If at all possible, start with a "clean" source - a CD, a uncompressed WAV or losslessly compressed FLAC or APE file.

Can mediamonkey do everything itunes can do(its for my girls ipod)

Yes - there's even a synching plugin to use MM with an iPod - and way, way, more than that!
It has a bit of a learning curve (not all that steep) and once you've mastered it, you'll never want to use iTunes again.

The current stable version (MM 2.5) may still be a little ugly to look at, but the upcoming version 3 (currently in alpha testing) should make the GUI look much, much nicer.

Take a close look at the MM forums, including the scripts forum!

TBH i can't imagine using any other music management software other than MM now! this thing is freakin awesome...sometimes is wish XP was this easy to use. some features from MM and some from Opera (lol...i know this sounds dull...) and XP would be golden!

sorry to go off topic man!!

I use Easy CD-DA Extractor, to manage my encoding needs, sometime I use Nero to rip into Wav format but then use ‘Easy’ to re-encode to Flac or just about anything you can imagine, it also uses the brilliant LAME, and you can set the processing power used high so you get the best possible sound. MM is also good but its what you gat used to, the beautiful thing I find about EASY is the fact you can just browse loads of music files you ripped early and just drag and drop to be encoded.

PS. I must explore MM a bit more and get using something else.
