Whenever I put music onto my D2 it arranges it alphabetically, any ideas why it is doing this? I want my music to be stored as on the original album, I am finding the D2 really user unfriendly with reguards to putting media on it.

I think if you go navigate through the folder system, the D2 arranges your music alphabetically. But if you navigate through your ID3 tags (by album or artist) then the songs should be in order (although the track numbers aren't displayed).......i think.

You can work around this by adding track #'s to the front of your track names. MediaMonkey can do this pretty efficiently provided your files are tagged properly.

Sounds like you are using the folder system (filetree). If you use that, you should change your filenames to reflect the track number. I use the system:

- A-C
-- Alanis Morissette
--- Jagged Little Pill
---- 01 All I Really Want
---- 02 You Oughta Know
---- etc
--- MTV Unplugged
--- etc
-- Anna Nalick
-- etc
- D-F
- etc

So part of alphabet, then artist, then album, then song preceded by tracknumber.

If you don't use this system it takes a while to change to it if you have a lot of music, but IMO it's the most efficient way of arranging files.

hi

i have the same problem.
for me it seems to be a problem with wma files. my d2 won't sort them by the tracknumber in the id3 tag. with mp3's everything is fine.
i've only tried it with drm protected wma files. tommorrow, i'll rip some wma's to check it. maybe the drm protection blocks something.

btw: does anyone know how to rebuild the id3 tag library manually? i think its no good reason, to remove a file, restart the d2, upload it back to the device.

update: wma files ripped in wma9 are making no sorting problems.
