View Full Version : Radio quality
The quality of FM radio reception with my D2 in US (I am California) is not really good. I actually keep up the volume level to 13 minimum. I did not notice a difference between stereo mode and mono mode. The radio reception is always in mono. I have Creative Muvo also and it is far superior in quality and is really stereo quality. Am I doing some thing wrong or is it some thing to do with the firmware?
[confused] I have FW2.41 installed on the system. Any suggestions???

Just to let you know I live in london england and the FM reception on my D2 is atrocious, this player really disappoints me more with each passing day.
What with the awful sound quality and the shocking radio reception I really can't understand how it got such rave reviews.
All you can do is sit tight and hope Cowon release some decent firmware to fix the bugs, I dont hold out though.
Now where is my iAUDIO 6.
I live in Brno(Czech Republic) and the radio quality is superb! [thumbsup] I was very surprised because I read a lot of negative opinions to this feature...

I found that the fw 2.41 really improved the reception (I'm in Copenhagen, Denmark). But I just couldn't live with all the other bugs with the new upgrade so I am back to 2.21 again - and a not so impressive radio reception.
But I don't understand what should be wrong with the sound quality. I am no audiophile but it's better than other players I have listened to (mainly Sony). I know sound is very subjective but on my D2 it's clearer and with MUCH less hiss in the background - even less than my portable Sony CD-player. What do you find wrong with the sound? I am just quite curious since I have thought it to be great ;)

There is no problem with the sound quality of the D2.. ;-) The radio reception is always in mono not as stereo.. I tested it in Seattle lastweek and realized it's same. I reverted back 2.21 and found no difference.

I found that D2 try to deliver the best quality. So, if the signal isn't powerful enough for stereo, D2 play it in mono, even if you want stereo. It's different from my previous player, wich always stay in stereo. For me, here in Paris (France), only 3 or 4 radio plays in stereo, other are in a old good mono sound. Not terrible indeed.
