I have read through many of the recording threads and I don't see exacting what I am looking for. I have a school project that requires me to do an interview. I will be the interviewer with one interviewee. I can control the setup, ie distance, environment, etc. I am going to use either my X5 or my MD. I am going to try both and see what works best. I have never done any recording of this type and I will only get one shot at it. I expect a total of 4-5 hours of recorded conversation. The finished product will be archived in a museum. They are willing to accept digital in whatever format I choose. I am planning to record as wav. They (or I) will then transcribe it. I would appreciate advice from those with experience. I need to know what to buy in terms of mics, mixers, preamps, etc. I am hoping to either find something online, or at a local RS, BB, CC, etc. I would also appreciate any advice on conduct of the interview, formats, storage, settings, etc. Thanks for any assistance.

(blinks) Wow, when I recorded a lecture with my A2 I just sat there and set it to record. The final result may not have been museum-quality but it certainly did the job for me.
