View Full Version : Slightly Disappointed

I got my new D2 this past Friday and am slightly disappointed with what I've seen. There are many great features and I really like the UI. Plus the touch screen interface is cool. But some basic features that I think should be there are missing and there are a few bugs (which is OK since its beta). I've upgraded to FW 2.41b

Playlists - I know that it only supports one DPL and that is fine by me. But I would like to be able to create "static" playlists on my computer. Especially since in the ID3 browser there is a playlists entry. I know there is a thread about this with a possible solution and I'll have to try it tonight after work.

TV-Out - It should do TV out for all functions not just video, i.e. music and pictures. It would be nice to have this hooked up to my stereo and TV and not have to go to the device every time I want to know what song is on. If I could just look at the TV from across the room it would be great.

Scrolling - It would be nice if I could actually select the scroll bar and move it up and down.

ID3 browsing - I've noticed a few weird things with this and I'm hoping its just because its a beta version of the firmware.

Copying files - I copied all my music to the D2 and several songs didn't make it over. Hopefully a bug that will be fixed in the next version.

Hopefully with more FW updates some of these will become resolved. Does anyone know of any comments or suggestions section for Cowon?

Wow? What player actually does this?

lol, you would think that you would know what songs you put on your mp3 player.....

On another note, Cowon has been doing quite well in getting firmware out. The D2 has been out for what? 2 monthsish now and they've already had at least 2 major firmware upgrades to address many of the major issues noted by users abroad...I'd say that's awesome.

I would agree Cowons ability to produce fw updates is great, seems to be better than most. I'm hoping because of this that some of these issues will get fixed in the near future.

I do know what songs are on my player, I put them there. But 4 gigs of songs is a lot and occasionally I forget what the title of the song is, i don't think that is out of the ordinary. It would be nice to be able to look at the TV from across the room.

These were just some minor observations I made, not deal breakers or anything. I'm sure I'll get over them eventually and hopefully a few will get fixed.

Come on, trying to remember the songs will help you build your memory up again ;) I guess it'd be nice if it could display it on the TV, and it really wouldn't take that much effort on their part to put in something that minor, but at the same time, it's so minor that they might not do it unless enough people e-mail them about wanting it...

The ZVM does the TV-out for all functions as well

M4Psycho - I'm hoping that Cowon reads these boards, although probably unlikely, and take notice of what we are suggesting. I would think it would be simple enough to implement. But until then I'll just have to play the memory game.

Judge - I thought that was the latest firmware. I think I was going off of the link from the iaudiophile homepage. I just loaded the new firmware and will give it a shot.

If you mean the scrollbar on the left-hand side of the screen, you can select it and drag it up and down. I do it with my fingernail when I'm scrolling through a folder with tons of songs [smile]
