Work in progress: R2 for the D2

I was bored and after making this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc0ekekltts) on friday I wanted a new project.... So I got the idea to make a themed D2 dock/holder, and started looking at possibilities. I ended up going for R2D2 as model, and just now did the first bit of its skeleton, in wood. It's not much yet, but it hopefully will be :D
Oh and i've been gigling for an hour when thinking about project name "R2 for the D2" ;)

Very first piece. When it's dry, its going to be transformed big time, rounding off the entire thing. I never have any plans for my stuff, just make it up as I go, so I hope it will work ^^

There we go, it's coming into shape... It's faaaaaaar from right yet, the body alone, but luckily i have a sander that is in the borderland to being a chainsaw :P (http://www.clasohlson.no/Archive/images/products/N/Hi/308593_X_2006-07-04_142915_244.jpg), it did the head from being the squared thingy to the left in that pic to the rounded one in about 15 minutes. Going to continue after work tomorrow, finding out exactly where the head is going and then make it stick for the time being, so i can get the shape of the thing right... Oh, head is hollow

Making the "interior", im not sure what I'll put in there as for technology yet but we'll see ^^

I've started painting i white now, after sanding it until i was satisfied. Some cacks here and there because it has to be able to be opened after painting to put in electronics.

So, thing is "done", so to speak. There are some design flaws, not going to finish it (left: detailed painting, that stuff is expensive ;))

Ive started a new project, new D2 dock, learnt from mistakes I made on this. Anyways, for me the R2 for D2 is actually good enough, I don't care much for putting in oall the details you didnt really see in the movies anyways :P

Oh btw, you might wanna enter the Cowon video contest their having. I'm sure some of your stuff would make an interesting entry, although I'm not sure about copyright law violations (Star Wars) and stuff...
