View Full Version : Homemade Docking Station
Being very impressed by the Cowon d2 I decided to make a docking station for it.
It's made of metals so it weighs 10 times the d2 [biggrin]
Here are some pics. Forget the mess on my desk.
Hope you like it.

i made an opening under the usb where the plastic flap slides underneath

very nice :D Wish i had the tools to make stuff in metal :/
Have been thinking of making something like that, but with AC instead of usb. Also I need to fix a betteraudio switch system on my room to incorporate wireless headphones base station. Anyways, very nice job! :D

Snazzy looking holder there :)
Did you ridged fix the cables or are they movable (floating)?

My english is not very good but I think i know what you mean.
I glued the usb/3.6mm audio contacts to that light metal holder. And the cables "float" true the rest of the docking station.
I didnt had enough room in that holder too make it al removable so i used some glue.
Now i hope that the cables will never break otherwise i have too use a hammer [biggrin]
The rest of the dock can be taken apart because its held together with some screws and bolt etc.

Your station was also very nice with those musicboxes and led light.
I dont have the knowledge in electrics to make something like that.
Indeed, i'm lucky with the tools of my dad, otherwise you cant make something like this.
I used usb instead of Ac because when my computer is on the d2 will charge and I use the music player on my pc. And when my pc is off i use the d2 to play music in combination with my stereo

Ah, well my PC is on when I'm home but i still use the 2 for music, video etc. My new switchbox is currently drying, didnt include a dock for the d2. the switch has 3 audio in's and 3 audio outs. DVD, pc and D2 for audio in, speakers, wireless headphones + a spare headphone jack for wired headphones as audio out. This way I can switch between in and out like i want. Theswitch system ive been using is buckling so needed new one ^^
