Hi,

I bought my D2 a few weeks ago and it is a really great player. However, I have noticed that when you copy tracks (via the OS and not WMP) across to the D2 it doesn't put them in time stamp order, so the tracks are in the wrong order compared to the CD. Am I doing something wrong ? Is there a way around this. Appreciate any help. My firmware version is 2.21. Thanks

The D2 doesn't sort the files according to time stamp, it only sorts them according to filename (the beta firmwares also have id3 sorting though). That is why all my filenames are: nn tt. (tracknumber tracktitle, for example: 08 Concertina). If you don't have this and have a lot of filenames to rename, foobar2000 can mass-rename them.

My files are name 01-track, 02-track, 03-track, etc...

but when I view it, they are only sorted in folder mode. In music library it is as if they are almost random (yet same order every time it seems)... the ID3 track number's are correct

So are all your tracks for a particular album in designated folders or are they just in the D2 MUSIC folder?

Also are you using drag and drop for the non-synced files?

My album is in a folder, and I just drag/dropped the folder to the device

Something i would try is check the properties of the folder on the PC that was transferred to the D2 (right click>properties) and see how many files are in the folder there maybe an extra hidden/system file or something in there that creating a problem with the display order.

Sorry i cant help you that was my finest shot at it :(

Well maybe not, the other thing that might influence is the tag arrangment if you have v1 and v2 tags that are different track No's then this might change the order, you will have to try a progy that shows both sets of tags and edit them to suit.
