I want to see how it loks like when its on, and when the d2 is on.

If possible, can someone show me their cowon with it off, and then on?

I know its a pain to put your nushield on, so only if you can show me, please do.

Here are some pics, hope you don't mind if make it a mini tutorial at the same time.

The screenprotector is the Nushield protector if anyone should miss to read the above post.

1: Clean your hands
2: Clean your screen
3: Remove the protective plastic, remember which side it was on because that side is going to the screen.
4: Slide the screenprotector under one of the longsides of the screen. Make sure that one of the shortsides of the screen protector is near the shortside of the screen.
5: Gently buckle the screenprotector and slide in the oposite longside under the edge of the screen.
6: Slide the screen protector down under the shortside of the screen. Slide it it with your fingers across the screenprotector, do not push the edge of it as it will buckle up then.
7: Slide it all the way in so that all edges of the screenprotector is flat on the screen.
8: Slide the other way back to the other shortside of the screen so that all edges of the screenprotector is under the edges of the screen.
9: Make sure that you have aligned it so it looks nice.
10: Clean the screenprotector from all fingerprints, and you are done.

Pic 1: Without screenprotector.
Pic 2: Removing the protective film.
Pic 3: Cleaning the screenprotector before installation.
Pic 4 & 5: Cleaned screen without the screenprotector.
Pic 6: The screenprotector during installtion, step 6 in the above text.
Pic 7: The screenprtector on and cleaned.
Pic 8: The menus with screenprotector on.
Pic 9: A movie with screenprotector on.

Does it defect image quality at all?

It looks as if theres a gloss to it.

But all in all, looks great, and thank you SOO very much for taking your time to post this.

Now to order some Nushields =P

Nice pics and guide :)

Does the shield withstand smudges and prints well is it similar to the original protector?

I noticed i can use my D2 as a mirror when the screen is off with the original screen protector on :)

...original screen protector on :)

Which one is that? The Cowon manufactured one? How is it?

Image quality: A little, that is extremly little. Much better than all the other screenprotectors I have tried. Also the edge of it dissapers completly which is virtually impossible to achive with other brands.
Gloss: Would say that it is nearly identical to the screen itself.
Fingerprints: Sorry to say nearly identical to the screen in that matter to, Clean alot ;-)

On the minus part, It is a bit tricky to get on at first, experiment with the first one, but when it is in place it does not feel or look any different (nearly anyway).

Edit: Concerning gloss: Compare pic 4 with pic 7 and you can see the difference between them, or rather the lack of difference ;-)

Hi RasJon,

I ment the one on the player out of the box.

@Blackroom, because the screen protector isn't static my concern is that dust will work in between it and the screen, is this likely or is it very dust resistant?

I can't really tell any noticable difference between the 2 different pics.

I haven't had that problem yet, but not impossible I guess. I'll post here reporting if i have some issues with it after I used it for awhile. But it takes up fingerprints far to good, maybe i'll try to buy those shieldzones later on.

Shieldzones get a lot of fingerprints aswell, and its hard to whipe it off cause its sort of an elastic, grippy material.

Most og the time, I have one long nail on my thumb and pointer finger, so I just tap with my nail =P

if this doesn't have any adhesive, what advantage does it have over transparency paper?

thicker? better in quality?
I might as well try to use the transparency. LOL

Thanks for the great instructions blackroom. Very helpful. I got mine on pretty easy after reading this. Although I had to trim the point off one corner after I put a small bend in it when it wouldn't slide under.

the instructions that came with my shields say to install the masked side away from the screen as this surface is the writing surface

I've just installed my Cowon screen protector on the second attempt. The protector is noticeable when the screen is off but when anything is shown it disappears! Excellent product however I'd love to see a protector that magically stops fingerprints.

[cursing]

i think it was a complete waste of money

got my nushield protectors today

and boy was it hard to get the screen on, i gave up and wished i hadn't started!

cause i ended up scratchin my screen

easy enough to get the top and bottom in

but for the life of me couldn't get the sides in

i think i'll have to order the cowon screens from nz

for now i put on a cut screen from my pda (from belkin) not the best screen quality by a long shot, but its all i have now

wished i just left the damn thing alone [cry]

Nushield Protection UPDATE:

I emailed Nushield and told them that i thought they were a pain to install

Here is there response

Grant,

We have recently changed the size of this film to be slightly smaller
in length as some of our customers were having difficulty in
installing the films on the Cowon D2. We will send you a new set of
the smaller version. In the meantime, you can try cutting off about 1
mm in the longer direction with a sharp scissors. This will
approximate the new films we will send you.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Now you can see my frustration

they contridicted themselves!

Clearly they knew there was a prior problem, without me even mentioning the problem i was having

if they knew there was a problem [devil]

why didn't they send the correct size in the first place
(did they think that somehow my D2 was a different size to everyone else) doh!

There is no problem with the installation of the screen protectors, you need to be more patient and gentile.
