Hi, I contacted BoxWave about ClearTouch Anti-Glare screen protector for Cowon D2.

They answered me this:
I will need more information on the exact measurements of the screen you are looking to purchase a ClearTouch Anti-Glare for. If you could please tell me the width and height of the screen in millimeters, I will be able to see if we currently develop a ClearTouch that will fit your device. Try to be as accurate as possible, so that we can ensure the ClearTouch will fit your device.

Please can anybody take the exact measurements of the screen of Cowon D2?
I don't have Cowon D2 yet. But I want to buy this screen protector with Cowon D2.

Thanks.

Ok I was able to measure the screen size....

Screen Height is 39.44mm.

Screen Width is 51.90mm.

Those are exact measurements so ...I've never install a screen protector (I still have the one that came with the D2) so I'm not sure if the actual screen protector should be a little smaller than the actual size of the screen or not.

But the sound of mikey's measurements that sounds pretty good since his measurements are a little smaller than the actual screen and you never know someones screen might be a little bigger or smaller buy 10th's of a mm...which is possible.

After I sent a sizes of Cowon D2 screen, I obtained this reply:
The only product that comes close to what measurements you've given me is a ClearTouch Anti-Glare for the Fujifilm FinePix F460. This ClearTouch will be slightly larger than the specs you've given me. You might be able to cut this ClearTouch to fit your device.

Many customers have been successful in customizing a ClearTouch to fit their device by using a straight-edge and an x-acto blade.

For your reference, here is a link to the said product:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/cleartouch/cleartouch-screen-protector-fujifilm-finepix-f460_1078.htm

It's a good message, because this screen protector is one of the best screen protectors. I have one on my PDA and it's really good. No fingerprints or grease is visible on this screen protector. Maybe I helped to someone with choosing screen protector. [wink]

I obtain a reply from BoxWave. Now is only one ClearTouch Anti-Glare screen protector compatible with Cowon D2. It's ClearTouch Anti-Glare for FinePix F460 (http://www.boxwave.com/products/cleartouch/cleartouch-screen-protector-fujifilm-finepix-f460_1078.htm) with small cutting.

I will buy it and use it on Cowon D2. After I will have this screen protector on Cowon D2, then I post here some photos how it looks.
But because delivery a package with this screen protector to me takes about 7-14 days, I post a photos here later.

I only resized image from 2816x2112 pixels to this 500x375 pixels resolution. Not crop picture. On full size you see the same as here, but only the picture will have 2816x2112 pixels instead of 500x375 pixels.
This image is olny for illustration how it looks [smile].

Where did you have to cut it and how much?

What did you use to cut it?

Thanks

In width I cut it for 0.5 millimeter and in height I cut it for 1 millimeter.
I fix it between two metal plate and then I cut it using knife. It is very easy [smile].

So they're not going to come out with a version for the D2?

I can attest, though, that the Boxwave screen protectors are the best!

Are these Boxwave screen guards truly glare free? Right now I have the protector that was attached to the player when I bought it and I can see my own reflection.

Yes, no reflections... imagine a matte photograph.

BTW: I got mine (very quick shipping) had to cut it down a little. fits well. I <3 it.

obviously, if your in direct sunlight, the screen will still be difficult to see.

Just the cheap, stock piece of plastic with a tab to remove it that most electronics with a glass screen ship with.

People, I was using my digital camera today (a Sony DSC-T7) and I suddenly realized that its screen size is 2.5", same as the D2. A quick measurement proves this to be correct. So if anyone wants to get the BoxWave screen protector, then get the one for T7 and it will fit perfect!

Anti-Glare Version - http://www.boxwave.com/accessories/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-t7-screen-protectors_920.htm
Crystal Version - http://www.boxwave.com/products/cleartouchcrystal/cleartouch-crystal-screen-protector-sony-cyber-shot-dsc-t7_920.htm

In fact, any screen protector for the T7 thats currently on the market should also fit the D2. I will order one from boxwave and try it out myself.

I look forward to hearing whether that t7 fit as expected

What advantages does this have over invisibleshield? I had ordered one (for $11.95) didn't work too well

scipher

Not real familiar with the Invisibleshield brand you're talking about, but some good things about the BoxWave ClearTouch Anti-Glare:

-Reusable: If you really need to, you can take off the screen protector, wash it, dry it, and put it back on. (I've never had to do this.)
-Durable: I have had this same screen protector on my Palm PDA for the past two years... Still works great.
-Adds Texture: Gives the screen a bit of texture when using it with a stylus. Not sticky or slippery.

I think that you'll find that the Boxwave is thicker than other products.

It's too small by approx. 2-3 mm or 1/8 inch diagonally

That's strange, since according to the detailed specs of the Sony DSC-T7 the 2.5" LCD screen should be identical to the one on the D2. If it doesn't fit the D2, it won't fit the T7 either. You should complain to BoxWave about this, as I certainly will if the same happens to me.

snorreh
05-06-2007, 08:58
If you compare the two attached pictures with the D2 screen, then you'll see that the screen on the DSC-T7 can't be similar to the DC1540.

Dalmane98
05-06-2007, 09:04
How are you going to complain about a screen protector that was not made for the item you put it on?

Are the dimensions of the LCD the same for the the D2 as the T7? Made by the same company?

Any one have a part number for the D2 LCD?

I use BoxWave Screen Protectors on my PDA and GPS and they always fit, but then that is the model they were cut for. They do make a great product.

snorreh

Ok, I'm just refering to __PhaseShiftDown that measured the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7's 2.5" LCD screen to be the exact same size as the one on the Cowon iAudio D2. I assume that if his measurements were correct, then the screen protectors that BoxWave sent out for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 ("suitable for BWCT-DC1540") won't fit even the device they were cut for by approx. 2-3mm diagonally according to Andrew Gonzalez.

Anyway, since my order hasn't been processed yet I sent an email request to BoxWave with all the details and I hope they can help me find some screen protectors that will fit better on the Cowon iAudio D2.

It's Samsung LTV250QV-1:
http://www.samsung.com/Products/TFTLCD/Others/LTV250QV_1/LTV250QV_1.htm

According to this, also the Creative Zen Vision:M uses the exact same LCD screen:
http://elliottback.com/wp/archives/2006/08/11/broken-creative-visionm-lcd-screen/

I noticed that BoxWave also got screen protectors for the Creative Zen Vision:M, for both the 30GB and 60GB versions (any difference, if so which one is depicted in the thread above?). Perhaps any of these screen protectors cut out for these devices are also compatible with the D2?

If you read this thread from begining, you should know the best protector that will fitt. Here is a anwer:

I obtain a reply from BoxWave. Now is only one ClearTouch Anti-Glare screen protector compatible with Cowon D2. It's ClearTouch Anti-Glare for FinePix F460 with small cutting.

I've seen that, but that one is too big. I'd prefer one that fits perfectly out of the box if possible. I'll wait and see what BoxWave says.

Just to confirm my suspicion, the screen size measurements of the Creative Zen Vision:M also seem to fit very well with the screen size on the Cowon iAudio D2 according to this:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?p=115928#post115928
I'm pretty sure the 30GB and 60GB have the same size screens. I have the 30GB and by my ruler it looks to be about 52mm wide x 39mm tall.

BoxWave got both Anti-Glare and Crystal screen protectors available for the Creative Zen Vision:M here:

Sorry guys. I got mine in the mail today and it seems that the screen protector is slightly smaller than the D2 screen. I think the T7 screen is very close to the size of the D2, but just off by 1mm or so. I only measured the screen using a normal ruler, and obviosuly it is not 100% accurate. [sad]

My apologies to anyone who wasted their money buying this.

Exceptor,

Thanks for all the info - I think the cutting sounds reasonable, if they don't make one for the D2...

But now that you have it on there, how does it actually look with the screen, image-wise? Does the anti-glare compromise the picture quality at all?

I just got this e-mail from a rep @ Boxwave:

Dear LuvMusic,

Thanks for getting in contact with us and inquiring about a Cowon D2. Fortunately, we just received some measurements and we have a ClearTouch that would work with your device.

We’re still in the process of updating our site so that it will list the Cowon D2 ClearTouch. Although, if you can’t wait, you can go ahead and order the ClearTouch for the Olympus FE-170:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/easyfinder/buy-best-olympus-fe-170-accessories_2379.htm

This Olympus digital camera and the Cowon D2 have the same screen dimensions. I hope that helps in your search for a screen protector for your device!

Best regards,

Abe
