Anyone out there has any experience with SD card insertion or ejection of SD Card/s from digital camera, card readers/writers when the machine is still "ON" or connected to the USB port?

Would it damage the card or erase the contents?

Thanks in advance.....

In my experiance they aren't damaged but best to read the manual specific to the equipment you are using, some camera's may recomend being turned off for card transfer.

OK feng the answer is a Yes and a No; what i mean by this is that say you take or insert your memory card into the device while it is connected to the computer, the card can either Yes be picked up without a problem, or No it can completely corrupt your data, this would happen as to the inconsistency with USB ports and the type of chip circuitry being used by the manufacture of the card. otherwise it can and cannot erase the contents but judging by my past experience i recommend you insert the card before you have it connected to the computer, this ensures that you do not corrupt, lose data, or powerfail your USB on the computer...but hey its a suggestion ...hope that helps feng....[thumbsup]

EDIT: Sorry feng one other thing i forgot to mention is; to have your camera or whatever other device off before you insert your card into that device also ensures data prevention loss this goes the same for ejecting your card from that device....

EDIT: ok feng here is a link not to do so much with SD card but card are cards and will explain to you the benefits of ejecting etc http://www.sportsshooter.com/news/1217
