Okay, around November, my headphone jack gave out. No problem. I sent it into Cowon for repair in December and got it back a day after Christmas. There were various other things wrong with it, such as the microphone didn't work (the wires detached from the main board) and the joystick was a little funky.
I got it back relatively quickly. The joystick was still a little... loose, but manageable. The headphone jack and microphone worked again.
A week later, the entire thing failed. I'm guessing that the charging circuit fried, since it wouldn't charge. It was acting all weird and doing things it wasn't supposed (such as showing the charging screen while there was nothing hooked up to it). I sent it to Cowon in mid-January, and just got it back today.
They fixed it... mostly. It now actually works, but I've just tested the headphone jack. The damn thing is loose again. Not as bad as the first time, but bad enough to cancel the right channel in an idle position. I can fix it by slightly pivoting it to the right, but that's annoying an it doesn't last long. This tiny flaw is bound to turn into a bigger problem in short time. That's what happened the first time; started out as a small defect, and turned into absolutely no sound. That's one problem. The other problem has to do with the sub-pack. I don't know if it's a problem with the main unit connections, or the sub-pack. But I just tested the Line-Out on the sub-pack on my car's stereo and it acts as if there's loose connections. It sounds muddy sometimes... Like when you put the sub-pack at a certain position, the bass of the audio gives out and if you wiggle it a certain way it goes to full power. I'm going to go home and connect it to the cradle and see if it displays the same problems. If it does, it's definitely the main unit.
My 1-year warranty expires in March. I honestly don't know what I can do. I can send it back and wait another month just to have it returned with something else wrong with it (and the warranty would have expired by the time it get back again, making me pay for repairs for anymore defects). Or I can deal with it until it gets horrible, then send it back and pay for it.
What should I do? I honestly don't know.
