Is anyone else getting this? The Cowon seems to stop updating after a number of connects / disconnects. Deletes seem to happen, but once you disconnect they're still there. Same with file additions but the other way around - files you added don't always appear once unplugged.
To cure this, a reboot is necessary. None of my PC's get rebooted unless they have to be - they're slept when not in use and a reboot is like once a week for the MS updates most of the time, unless BF2 is having a fit.
My other UMS players behave perfectly normally. It's only the D2 which seems to be doing this. I suspect it's partially down to the fact that I can't safely disconnect or eject the D2 after some connects / disconnects. What's doing on? Anyone know?

i haven't had the D2 stop updating or other strange happenings, but to prevent issues with not being able to safely disconnect or eject the D2 after some connects / disconnects, just disable write cacheing. you don't have to use the USB tray icon to do anything if you disable write cacheing. just make sure that you are not writing or reading to the D2 when you pull the plug. when write cacheing is enabled, the os will keep the file table open. pulling the plug when the file table is open is a bad idea.
Not had that problem.
I frequently have the new hardware found wizard pop up. I might have connected the D2 and stopped it (I always use the safely remove hardware icon) a number of times during the day and then it will give me the wizard next time I plug it in.
I then have to wait a while, say 30 seconds or so of repeatedly trying to switch the D2 on again. When it finally switches on, I turn it off and, in most cases, connects ok to the PC - but not always.

I've had this happen also but, haven't experienced any "file system issues."

I got that a couple of times too, was wondering what that was but this is obviously a more serious problem. I'll look into whether write caching is enabled. I doubt Windows assigns write caching to a removable device automatically, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

Yup, both drives have write caching off.
And still having similar issues.
do you safly disconnect the device or just pull on the cable ?

Yeah I am, when it lets me.
It's actually quite annoying as I can auto-eject, but the D2 doesn't seem to want to do that... I've got to go in and Remove Safely every time. But at times it doesn't allow me. I'm not sure exactly what the circumstance of events which prevents that is yet as I've been trying to exercise all the features of the D2 but I'll figure it out later.
Anyone know of a tool which allows for one-hit Removal of a specified UMS device? That might come in handy.

OK - I think I've worked it out.
It seems to happen after the D2 has been connected to the PC for a while, say a near complete recharge sequence on USB. Then if you try and transfer tracks to it the above happens - and I can't Safely Remove the D2 either. The situation doesn't resolve until I reboot the PC.
How does everyone else charge/transfer to their D2's?
