Who knows.... it will be more obviously when they release the X5, because then they have the A2 to worry about. I'm not sure, but the model at CeBIT wasn't the 'full' model.

Cowon needs to at least put preview info on their site as well as a date estimate.

I want this thing so bad.

Any news on the release date? I really want a PMP now! It's between the MPack800, iStation i2, and Cowon A2.. :)

AFireInside I'd hold off on the mpack, i hear it has problems with direct dvd recording. It seems to be jittery and of very poor quality; it is awaiting an update, but who knows when it will be available for download, and if it will fix the problem at hand even. Also if anyone is interested in the istation i2, i'd check into the bluenics pmp 1000. It seems to be a great little player, but it is only for sale in korea. the A2 better be worth the wait because i've been without any music device for some time now due to the prolonged release date on this. all i have to say is the direct record of video better be top notch, and i hope the screen isn't grainy like many of the other pmp players out right now such as the archos av420. not to fond of its lcd. just my 2 cents...

Hey khbaur330162,

what exactly do you mean bluenics?

it is made by bluenics. http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000063042546/
thats a link to an endgadget review on it. and heres a link to thier site

http://www.totalon.com/FrontStore/iStartPage.phtml

upper right hand corner there is a link for an english page but it has considerably less info.

check that out for all the stats on it. like the istation it has no video recording, but if that isn't a big deal for you, this looks very promising.

Wow, what a very attractive player but then again, no video recording! So the iStation i2 doesn't have video recording?! Where and how did I miss that? :D

^^^ Yea I missed it at first too. I guess since you see all these other specs that pretty much make the perfect pmp player, you don't even think of video recording. The pqi mpack looks very good too, but after some research I hear that straight dvd recording is very jitterly and of poor quality. Other recording is fine just dvds aren't good. That said, pqi is looking into a firware update to fix this but has yet to do so. For me, my only option is the Cowon A2 because of these setbacks from the bluenics, i-station, and mpack 800. Only thing is is we don't even know if the A2 will hold up to all the hype we seem to be giving it in our heads. I just hope this one works out because previous dap's have been a disaster for me. COWON! DON"T LET ME DOWN!!!

Given the specs on the german site, it appears that the A2 is much larger and thicker than the X5 - then again I'm converting from metric in my head, so.. am I right?

Don't exactly know, and given that the A2 is much more poweful, with a much larger color screen which drains battery far faster than the X5, meaning it would need a larger battery, it should be bigger in all dimensions. I'd rather compare its size to another PMP player such as the av420, pmc, mvp-100, lyra, YH-999, ect. What are the metric dimensions and I'll get back to you on the American standard numbers.

Does anyone know if it will have Music/Movie Effects (like emulated surround, BBE like on the X5)?
