View Full Version : Homebrew on Cowon D2?
Wonder if somebody with the time and knowledge has thought of this...
Here's a list of what could be nice if possible:
1. NES emulator, using volume buttons as A+B and the touchscreen to move right+left+up+down.
2. Html viewer, this way one could view tables and organise text better than in a .txt file.
3. GPS, i read somewhere that this is something that Cowon was thinking of adding to the D2 later on with some extra accessories, but maybe one could use components that already exist... Maybe from the Gizmondo.
i hope cowon goes nuts with accessories and add-ons for the player.
and not just in korea!
Mario on an MP3 player...wtf? lol
does the player support animated gifs? that would be cool esp for like background :)

i think i would die, trying to coordinate the touchscreen with the A/B buttons.
the only game i can think that might work is tetris.
**100 post**
Have you even tried to hold the D2 so you can press the top buttons with one hand while playing with the touchscreen with the other? Doesn't seem very playable to me.

Well, it's not made to play games.. ther'e too little buttons available...
Nes tetris maybe and maybe nokia snakes... and bomberman...
games like bejewled should be playable with the touchscreen if it is supported

while i'm sure it could happen, i doubt there would be enough support to do that much work for such games that you can play on your cell phone.

True...
Well, let's skip the "nes emu"... How about the Html viewer? same thing there? My phone has a browser.. So I guess the Html viewer isn't necessary either...
And GPS ? Too hard to do maybe, one would need a GPS antenna.. So, maybe not possible...
What other homebrew applications could be nice to have? I guess there aren't many after all...

The D2 should be able to read Flash Animations

I can't remember the last time I saw any sort of extensive use of animated gif files (aside from those little animated smileys on this forum [rolleyes]). Even during their heyday in the mid-90s, those things were gimmicky and rather limited in their capabilities....
So, why stay stuck in the 90s with animated GIFs, when Flash animations are WAY more flexible and capable, especially for big things like moving backgrounds. iRiver has animated Flash backgrounds on their next version of the Clix, and they look awesome!
has anybody ever heard from line rider...
In the game you just draw a line and a little dude on a sledge rides on it....
it would work with the touchscreen...
and its in flash... so hope fully it gets support for flash stuff...
not that I need the game.... its just a guess...
