Fixed in firmware 2.46
So, almost all my files were in id3v2.4 before I got my D2. Turns out the D2 can't handle them and displays weird Asian characters instead. This thread is meant as an explanation of this 'bug' which will bound to be encountered by other people. Here is a pictorial guide:
I took two files, two songs in my library, and changed the tag types. One is id3v1 + id3v2.3, the other is id3v1 + id3v2.4. Then I put them on my D2 and played them. Here is the result:
The two files in Mp3tag:

The first (id3v1 + id3v2.3 tag) file:

The second (id3v1 + id3v2.4 tag) file:

As you can see, you will have to convert your id3v2.4 tags to id3v2.3 in order to use them on your D2. Mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/) is the program I used to do this. I hope this situation will be addressed in future firmwares.
P.S. This was using fw2.21.
