View Full Version : Where can I buy the line-in converter?

OK, I've looked everywhere online to no avail - I've also had blank looks from assistants in electronic shops who don't recognise the connection. Has anybody actually used the line-in/mic-in feature? I don't even know if the relevant port next is generic or whether I'm wasting my time even looking for the converter for now...

Same Here. I would like to also use the TV-OUT Feature on the unit as well.
Does anyone here know where we would be able to find these items that ship to the US? I love my D2! :)

The line-in (http://www.jetmall.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=52&Page=2) cable is available at jetmall.net.

I found out via online customer chat that the tv-out cable will be available at the end of the month.

Good news about the tv-out cable being available at the end of Feb. The line-in cable that jetmail are currently selling, though, looks like a standard jack to jack line-in. The D2 seems to require a converter for a jack lead to the port on the D2 which is next the mini USB. It seems Cowon have deliberately used a non-standard connection to obligate us to buy further accessories to be able to use the advertised features[thumbdwn]

I just spoke to someone at www.advancedmp3players.co.uk and he told me that the neccessary line-in cable converter and tv-out were indeed specific Cowon products and that they would shipping in the next couple of weeks.

The socket used looks like it's got 8 or 10 pins so I can only assume that it is a space saving connection with half the pins used for the tv-out and the other half for line-in/mic-in.

"F" that. I'll just use the in-line cable that came with the i6 and use the i6 to convert.

The one at jetmall is indeed not for the d2 out of the box, as it says :)

[confused]

It says: Line-in cable Black (stereo cable) for COWON A2 / D2 / iAUDIO F1 / U3
and costs $4.

It look like a line-in cable for any electrical product - not just Cowon ones. The problem is that the line-in socket on the D2 is not the standard size or shape so you need a seperate cable made by Cowon to convert a normal jack to the connection next to he mini USB on the D2. Jetmail only sell one of the two cables needed.

I've got a vinyl collection I can't wait to copy and I can't be the only one. Given that it looks like nobody (anywhere?) can use the line-in or microphone-in or use the TV-out I'm kind of suprised that it hasn't been picked up on. It is a major advertised feature and it'd have been nice to know how much these cables were gonna be. I can see my £180 purchase becoming a £230 purchase before I can use the features I bought it for. Still, the cables are gonna have to be very, very expensive for me to start thinking I made the wrong choice with the D2.[smile]

Okay. But, doesn't the line-in cable go into the headphone jack? At least this is how it works on the iAudio 6. I used the line-in cable to encode cassettes to wma files on my i6 and didn't have a problem.

Unfortunately it is not this simple. There is a seperate do all socket on the D2 which you need a cable converter to use. This is no bad thing, though, I think. At least you can listen to what you are recording via external mic/line-in. At first I thought Cowon must have built in the need for this extra purchase and was quite annoyed but the more I think about it the more I think it is a genuine space-saving feature that the many users who wouldn't use the extra sockets for mic/line-in and tv out will appreciate...

I noticed while browsing the Korean-language PDF of the User's Manual (since I don't have my own D2 yet) That it shows the AC adapter, video-out cable and line in cable all share that tiny usb port. I think it's a great space-saving idea.

Owners of older Cowon players most likely have the line-in cable that came in the box. It should be exactly what you need - but you will need to buy the line-in cable converter, which is a short little cable with a femaie mini-plug on one end and a mini-usb on the other.

I suspect all the cables and the clear carrying case, along with the 4gb player will all show up on Jetmall's site at once - hopefully in the next couple weeks!

Well, well. Still no sign of the line-in converter or the tv out cable here in the UK. But it seems they have found their way to Holland and Belgium[confused] :

I'm hugely frustrated at still not being to use some major features of the D2 but at least I can now see Cowon have priced them quite cheaply (just a few euros) - since only Cowon are making them I was bracing myself to pay way over the odds...

I bought it here:

http://stores.ebay.com/Electronic-Dictionaries_MP3-Player-PMP_COWON_D2_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZ483988013QQ ftidZ2QQtZkm

The Line-in cable (I bought a couple, just in case) and the stereo audio-video TV cable.

A couple of weeks from Korea and everything went ok via registered air mail.

The seller isn't selling the line-in cable in his store at the moment, you can send a message via eBay asking for it. His shop is:
