Is it a third-party hack or something? Are they claiming it's official?

what are the new features/bug fixes?

More info, please! [smile]

I cant really speak to anyone's suspicions, but I can say that I am happily using the updated firmware as I type this now. Everything seems to work fine for me. lol

Can you tell us what features it includes? Anything new since v2.2?

Some photos would be great! [smile]

I'm not sure what is new, but my 4Gb D2 came with the 2.21 firmware already installed, so it's completely trustworthy. After 2 days of use, no crashes. Plays all my files perfectly, even some really old MP3 files (I'd read there had been cases of the D2 crashing when playing some MP3 files). I've tried FLAC, MP3, OGG, APE and videos encoded using the provided jetAudio software.
It seems like there are no new features since 2.20. Perhaps small bug fixes before releasing the 4Gb version?

unless it offers something that 2.20 doesn't and I REALLY want it, I'll wait until something official from Cowon.

Who Am I?

Korea site doesn't have that Firmware Version up. DO NOT INSTALL!

If the 4GB versions are shipping with it, my guess is that someone just ripped it off a 4GB D2 and packaged it up for other people.

Still, if it doesn't offer any new features, there's no reason to risk installing it. 2.20 is working flawlessly for me. [biggrin]

Did 2.21 come on your D2, or did you install the linked-to patch, and then decide to downgrade back to 2.20?

Was there some reason you downgraded?

no point installing it, just wait for the next cowon fw. For people who got the amp3p 4gb model, dont worry, just leave it as it is. It aint gonna do any harm.

My D2 came with v2.21 installed also. Besides advancedmp3players are completely trustworthy. They are a major reseller in the UK. So nothing to worry about there.

My Mates 4gb d2 arrived today, the start up is so much better than the 2gb version, a flashy "cowon digital pride" welcome, I wonder if its part of 2.21?
Has anyone flashed the 2.21 and noticed this change, it so cool

Do you mean the one with a black background more "made-in-flash" looking?
My 2 Gb had it also, but not any more since the 2.20 fw upgrade [sad]
(It came with fw 2.00) I want it back [sad]

I had 2.21 and it had the black screen. I flashed to 2.20 to fix my bug (which turned out to have nothing to do with 2.21), and it was gone. I don't care.

If you backed up your D2's before doing the firmware update, you can get the 'flash-like' Digital Pride animated logo by copying the file

D2/System/logo.ilb back from your backup copy.

I sent a pm to firmware guy at AdvancedMP3 players asking if they had installed 2.21 or if it came with it from the manufacturer.

No answer.

Assuming you didn't buy it from AdvancedMP3 players then that's reassuring, thanks.

So anyone tried it? Is it really v2.21? I mean, its not the question of realness of v2.21 itself, 2.21 is real enough. But has anyone actually TRIED flashing the one in the link above?

Hi all!

I recently (3-4 days) bought a D2 (in Europe). It is shipped with a stock 2.21 firmware, I had no problems in playing audio, but I had sometimes screen artifacts while playing xvid previously converted using the jetaudio software. If this firmware is the one in my device, it is stable and works (if I ignore the problem I mentioned).
I'm downloading it because I want to move on to 2.46 but I need some sort of backup if it does not do the job or unstable etc..

2.21 works.

I recently bought a D2 in Europe, and it was shipped with a stock 2.21 firmware, had no problems playing audio, video sometimes introduces green "cubes" over black fields, and sometimes other artifacts. If this is the one in my device too it works not including the error above (if its a bug in the firmware). I'm moving to 2.46 hoping that it is fixed.

If everyone wants to download 2.21 I recommend to do so, it works, and stable.
