So i'm patiently waiting on the release of the 4gb D2 like so many of you out there, and i need something constructive to consider in the meantime. What is the best route to go as far as mem extension.... i've heard good things about the 4gb 150x transcend card, but i've also wondered about the cost/benefit ratio of getting the lower performance cards. I mean, wouldn't the only noticable lag occur when actually writing to the cards and rapidly veiwing pics? so why not grab a couple cards like this one for 17 bucks a pop. after all, the card has quite a few reviews and 98% 5 out of 5 ratings... it can't be too badhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134029
Anyways, post your best cost/benefit formulas for sd cards[thumbsup]

i have a normal performance 2gb Sandisk card, and have yet to experience any lag with video or music. haven't tried photo yet/

so is there any REAL advantage to the high speed cards other than write speed... or is it like driving a ferrari in a 35mph zone

i think its best if we build a small databe in which each user reports the cards he has used with his D2, size, Brand, Model, adversited speed and speed obtained in a card reader (just use HDtech)

I would be all for that. i've been searching the forums hunting down everybodys cards, and then looking them up on newegg. It's info that everybody's going to want at some point

well, as soon as i get my 4GB D2 with its 4GB SDcard (8GB total), ill run some tests, post results and give a small tutorial on testing the card,

see the thing is, people are going to only think that's for 4gb cards. which not everybody wants/has.

i just made a new one for general purposes, but if you feel it's excessive, by all means, lock that sucker up[thumbsup]

There isn't.

Think of it this way....

Say you have a 700 MB/2 hour movie. The movie would then last for 7200seconds. If you divide 700 in 7200 we'd end up at approx. 0.097. That's what you card needs in terms of read speed... 0.097 MB/s.

Using the same arithmetics on a 3 minute/30MB FLAC we'd end up with 0.17 MB/s.

In other words:

The speed of the card needs to be no more or no less than the transfer speeds of the player unless you have a card reader and wanna save some time in the transfer.
